LA

MURAILLE DE SOIE

Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad is known for his style, which comes from an innovative mix of Eastern suggestions and a European touch to a modern style that reflects old civilizations bringing to the present the beauty of the past. In his autumn / winter 2011 – 2012 Collection, named La Muraille De Soie, Zuhair Murad used as inspiration the Emperatrice Wu Setian, the only woman in the history of China to assume the tittle of Empress Regnant and that was known for her remarkable ruling with an iron fist. To recreate the inspiration the designer use Obi belts that accentuate waistlines, jumpsuits, day suits and gowns, floor lengths kimono sleeves, mandarin collars, embroideries of bamboo shoots, cherry blossoms and love birds, also he chosen the silk as a way to pay tribute to China’s greatest invention, he used noble variations of the fabric from duchesse satin, crepe satin, organza to silk mousseline and silk tulle. The color palette is jade green, Carmen red, violet and black. The collection is described by the designer as “The completion of a quest for harmony between the Ying and Yang”; nothing can’t describe better the beautiful collection. Urban Runway
