Sushil Kumar takes additional charge of Managing Director of UP Metro Rail Corporation

Sushil Kumar, Director (Operations) has been appointed as the Acting Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) He has been given an additional charge till the regular appointment of the new Managing Director. Kumar joined UPMRC in 2015 and has contributed significantly to the metro rail operations in Lucknow and now in Kanpur as well. He is an officer of Indian Railways Services Electrical Engineering (IRSEE).

Alstom delivers India’s first semi high-speed regional train for Delhi-Meerut RRTS project

Alstom, a leading multinational sustainable mobility provider, has successfully delivered India’s first semi high-speed regional train for National Capital Region Transport Corporation’s 82.5 km long DelhiGhaziabad-Meerut RRTS Phase 1. The handover ceremony was held at Alstom’s manufacturing unit at Savli in Gujarat on May 7.

NCRTC selects DB India to operate & maintain RRTS trains for twelve years

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation Ltd (NCRTC) has appointed DB subsidiary Deutsche Bahn International Operations (DBIO) for the operations & maintenance of RRTS trains on 82.15-km DelhiGhaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridors. DBIO will be responsible to manage the operations and maintenance of the regional rapid transit system (RRTS) for a period of twelve years from the date of commissioning. The DelhiMeerut RRTS project will connect Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut with 25 stations and two depots.

CMRS gives safety nod to launch metro services on Pettah-SN Junction stretch of Kochi Metro

The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) Abhay Kumar Rai issued safety clearance certificate to Kochi Metro Rail Ltd to open metro services from Pettah to SN Junction under Phase 1A of the Kochi Metro Rail Project. The safety inspection was carried out from June 9-11, 2022 in Kochi. During their three days visit, the CMRS team inspected everything like the viaduct, rails/tracks, third rail, elevators, escalators, fire fighting system, Alstom signaling & train-control system, control room and passenger facilities at Vadakkekotta and SN Junction stations.

Delhi Transport Minister seeks investigation on frequent disruption of Delhi Metro services

Due to repeated service disruptions faced on various corridors of Delhi Metro owing to technical issues this month, Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot has directed the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) to submit an investigation report within seven days. The direction issued on June 22, a day after a onehour delay in services between Samaypur Badli and Vishwavidyalaya on the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro was reported on June 21, 2022. In the last three weeks, metro passengers had to put up with six breakdowns on four different Delhi Metro corridors.

DMRC begins trial runs on extension of Delhi Metro Airport Express Line

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) has commenced trial runs on the 2-km extended section of the Airport Express Line. The 2-km-long stretch between the existing Dwarka Sector 21 station and the new Dwarka Sector 25 station is aimed to link the India International Convention and Exhibition Centre (IICC).

Rajendra Prasad appointed as Managing Director of National High Speed Rail Corporation

Senior technocrat and an officer of Indian Railway Services for Engineers 1986-batch Rajendra Prasad has assumed the charge of Managing Director, National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) with effect from July 7, 2022 in addition to his present duties as Director (Project) at NHSRCL. Prasad is working as Director (Project) with NHSRCL since November 2017 and is overall in-charge of civil engineering works of the MumbaiAhmedabad High Speed Rail Project, popularly known as the Bullet Train Project.

UPMRC launches Mobile App for Kanpur Metro commuters

With the aim to make the Metro services on the 9 km long priority section from IIT - Kanpur to Motijheel more efficient and convenient for the commuters, Acting Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UPMRC) Sushil Kumar launched the official mobile app of Kanpur Metro. At the event, senior Metro officials presented a live demo of Metro ticket booking through the official mobile app. Named 'Kanpur Metro', this app is available on both 'Android' and 'iOS' platforms.

Ashwini Bhide takes charge as Managing Director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation

The leadership & management of Mumbai Metro's Line-3 (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) has once again been handed over to Mrs. Ashwini Bhide, IAS. 1995-batch Officer of Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, Mrs. Ashiwini Bhide again took the charge of Managing Director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRC) on July 13, 2022.

Maharashtra cabinet approves MumbaiAhmedabad High Speed Bullet Train project

The newly formed Maharashtra Government cabinet given their approval for the implementation of the MumbaiAhmedabad High Speed Bullet Train project in Maharashtra. This information was given by Smt. Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State for Railways & Textiles, Govt. of India. Maharashtra deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis on July 14, 2022, announced that all clearances have been given for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor in the state. The 508 - km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed corridor is being developed by National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) at an estimated cost of Rs 1.1 Lakh Crore.

Nikunj Srivastava takes charge as Managing Director of MP Metro Rail Corporation

Senior IAS Officer and Commissioner & Secretary Urban Administration & Development Department, Nikunj Kumar Srivastava has been appointed as Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. He took charge from 2008-batch IAS Officer Mrs. Chhavi Bhardwaj on July 13, 2022.

75 new Vande Bharat trains are expected to be ready by August 2023: Railway Minister

Indian Railways is planning to replace locomotiveless Vande Bharat trains with Shatabdi, Jan Shatabdi and Intercity trains in the coming times. At present, 27 routes have been selected for this. More routes will also be finalised in the coming time. In the first phase, Vande Bharat trains will be run on 27 railway routes including Delhi-Lucknow, Delhi-Amritsar and Puri Howrah. Apart from this, preparations are also being made to replace Shatabdi trains operating on DelhiBhopal and Delhi-Chandigarh railway lines. The construction of Vande Bharat trains is going on fast in the Integral Coach Factory of Chennai. 75 trains are expected to be ready by August 2023.

CRRC tie-ups with Titagarh Wagons to supply 216 coaches for Bangalore Metro Phase 2

Chinese Rolling Stock manufacturer CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co Ltd, a subsidiary company of CRRC Corporation Ltd has entered into a deal to save its Rs 1,578 crore contract order awarded by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) to supply 216 Rolling Stock coaches for Bangalore Metro's Phase 2. CRRC has signed a deal with the Kolkata-based firm Titagarh Wagon Ltd (TWL) to fulfill the 90% manufacturing criteria for the 34 train sets comprising 204 coaches to be done within India.

Maha Metro Chief Dr. Brijesh Dixit felicitated with Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha-Metro) has been conferred with the prestigious `Special Lifetime Achievement Award' at an event held at Andheri East, Mumbai on July 15, 2022. The award was presented to him by Indian Institution of Bridge Engineers (IIBE) for his selfless and tireless efforts in the field of infrastructure development in the country. Dr. Dixit was selected for this award for the quality and speed of work while executing the Nagpur and Pune Metro Projects.
