PM Narendra Modi lays foundation stone of ₹1,957 crore Kochi Metro Rail Project Phase 2

In his Kerala visit on 1st September 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Kochi Metro's Phase-II and launched various projects of Kochi Metro and Indian Railways worth over Rs4,500 crore including the extension of Kochi Metro Phase-I (from Petta to SN Junction). The Phase 1 extension (1A) of Kochi Metro Rail Project was built at a cost of Rs 700 crore.

UP Metro celebrates fifth anniversary, sets new vision for the next 3 years

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL) on 5th September 2022 celebrated Metro Diwas on the successful completion of five years of operations of metro train services in the state capital. To mark the occasion, various programs were organized at Transport Nagar Depot, Hazratganj, and CCS Airport Metro Station of Lucknow Metro.

Govt of India cabinet approves ₹1,957 crore Kochi Metro Phase 2 Project

The Central Government Cabinet gave its nod for the construction of the Phase 2 of the Kochi Metro Rail project, which will cover a total distance of 11.17 km with 11 stations. The approval was received just one week after laying the foundation stone of project by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1st September 2022. The funding pattern of the Phase 2 project includes Govt. of India Equity - Rs 338.75 crore (20%), Govt. of Kerala Equity - Rs 338.75 crore (20%), and Loan from Bilateral/Multilateral agencies - Rs 1,016.24 crore (60%).

DPR of ₹5,035 crore East-West Corridor of Lucknow Metro sent for cabinet approval

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (UPMRC) today sent the revised detailed project report of the proposed East-West Corridor of Lucknow Metro Rail Project to the Uttar Pradesh Government cabinet for review and approval. According to the revised DPR, the total length of the East-West Corridor from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj will be 11.165 km. Of which, 4.286 km section will be elevated and the remaining 6.879 km will be underground. A total of 12 metro stations (7 underground and 5 elevated) will be built on this corridor.

MPMRCL to start trial run on 5.9 km Indore metro corridor by September 2023

The metro trial run on the 5.9 km-long stretches of Indore Metro's Ring Line (Yellow Line) will be commenced by September 2023. This information was shared by Shri Nikunj Shrivsatava, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) during a review meeting held with public representatives and local administration last month. “The progress of the Indore Metro Rail project is good. We are confident that we will conduct the trial run on the 5.9 high-priority corridors by September next year,” said Shrivastava. .

Railway Minister reviews the progress of Sabarmati and Ahmedabad Bullet Train stations

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today carried inspection of under construction sites of Sabarmati Multimodal Transport Hub and Ahmedabad HSR Station of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor Project. Interacting with the media, he said that the work of these High-Speed Rail stations will be completed by next year. The 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor will connect Ahmedabad (in Gujarat) to Mumbai (in Maharashtra) with 12 High-Speed Rail Stations.

Tata Group to invest ₹975 crore in Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd

Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata group, is investing Rs 975 crore in Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd, a special purpose vehicle that has won the contract to construct, operate and maintain Pune Metro Line 3 connecting Shivaji Nagar and Hinjewadi in the city. Tata owns a 74% stake in Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd; the rest is owned by Siemens Project Ventures. The Rs 7,420-crore, the 23-km project is being financed through debt-to-equity of 1.8 times and the entire debt has been tied up, and the envisaged equity commitment is supported by Tata Sons.

Teltronic to provide broadband solutions for DelhiMeerut RRTS Corridor

Teltronic, a Spanish company specialised in the design and manufacture of critical communications solutions, has been selected by Alstom to supply and integrate the on-board equipment, radio terminals and control centre solution that will provide Mission Critical Services MCX (MCPTT & MCData) for the Delhi to Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), a high-speed commuter rail currently under construction that will link these two important Indian cities via an 82 kilometres rail corridor. Teltronic will provide its Control Centre solution, CeCoCo, with a total of ten operator stations.

Platform screen doors installation started in priority section of Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor

The work of installation of the Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) at RRTS stations on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor has been started. It has been started from Guldhar RRTS station of the priority section. In this process, various parts of platform screen doors such as automatic sliding doors, fixed door panels, platform end gates, emergency escape doors, and fixed screens are being installed on the platform. Platform screen doors will be integrated with RRTS train doors and the ETCS Level-2 signaling system, resulting in train doors opening and closing simultaneously with platform screen doors.

CMRL to add 93-km another metro rail network in Chennai Metro Phase 2 project

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is set to add another 93-km network to the 118-9 km Phase 2 Project by extending its corridors 3, 4 and 5. The underconstruction Rs 61,843-crore Phase II project was planned with three corridors — Corridor 3 with 45.8-km from Madhavaram to Siruseri, Corridor 4 covering Lighthouse and Poonamallee (26.1 km) and Corridor 5 connecting Madhavaram to Sholinganallur (47.0 km). Now, Corridor 4 will be extended till Parandur (50 km), Corridor 5 to Avadi through Thirumangalam and Mogappair (17 km), and Corridor 3 from Siruseri to Kilambakkam Bus Terminus via Kelambakkam (26 km).

Kineco launches ‘Kineco Global Rail’ with a Portfolio of Proprietary New-Gen Rail Products

Maha Metro submits DPR of ₹4,940 crore, 44-km MetroNeo project for Pune

The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha Metro) has submitted the detailed project report (DPR) after deciding to have the MetroNeo system on the HighCapacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR) in Pune. It will be able to run the elevated Neo Metro on a circular route of 43.84 kilometres in the city which includes 45 stations. The MetroNeo project could be completed in 2028-29 if it starts in December 2023 as planned. This project will cost Rs 4,940 crores. The DPR of the ‘HCMTR’ route has been submitted to the Pune Municipal Corporation for review and approval. According to the DPR, a 43.84 km stretch of the Metro Neo system is proposed. This will start from Bopodi and connect Vishrantwadi with 45 stations

Maha Metro tasked to prepare DPR for Aurangabad Metro Rail Project

The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) has been entrusted to prepare the detailed project report for the proposed Aurangabad Metro Rail Project in Maharashtra. As part of the proposed project for which DPR is being prepared, two Metro sections – Waluj to Shendra MIDC and Bidkin to Harsul are proposed to be constructed. In fact given Maha Metro expertise in implementing infrastructure projects like RoB, RuB, other than Metro Rail Project, the organization has also been asked to prepare plan for Fly-over, which will run parallel to Metro Track, as has been executed in Nagpur. Metro via-duct and fly-over will run parallel from Waluj to Shendra MIDC of Aurangabad.

GMRC opens 32 km Phase 1 corridors of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Phase 1 of Ahmedabad Metro Rail project and took a metro ride from Kalupur station to Doordarshan Kendra metro station on 30th September 2022. On the second day of his Gujarat visit, the Prime Minister waved the green flag for the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project. The Prime Minister arrived at Kalupur Station after taking a ride in the brand new Vande Bharat Express 2.0 from Gandhinagar Station. The Prime Minister also witnessed a Metro Rail exhibition that was put up on the occasion.
