Carpenter Bee Removal Kit

Carpenter bees look bumble bees but don’t let their harmless appearance fool you! If left to their own devices, they can bore a hole in your wooden furniture, doors and other wooden materials around the house. They are mostly seen in the spring season and may reappear in fall depending on where you live. Successful Carpenter Bee Removal can either be done through topical spray, followed by dusting and then sealing the holes.

You can either call in a professional service to do this for you or buy a removal kit from a store or do it yourself. Regardless of what method you choose, you must follow these steps to eliminate these bees from your property.

Inspect and ascertain their presence The carpenter bees are fully capable of ruining your exterior or interior wooden structures made of wood. The best time to inspect their presence is during the day. Check all the exposed wooden elements on your property and look for signs of infestation. If you see half-inch round holes and a pile of sawdust beside that hole, then your worst fears have just been confirmed! If you need more reassurance, then look for yellow stains right beneath the hole which is the fecal matter discharged by the bees.

Start the treatment process Now that you are sure of their infestation, it is time to take out the carpenter bee removal kit. Start with spraying the area where the bees have been most active. Use the usage instructions to dilute the spray accordingly for it to be most effective in the removal of bees. You can not only spray in the areas where you have noticed activity but also the ones you think are prone to an attack. Use the spray once a month in the bee season. Even though these bees do not attack in a group but there is still a possibility of being stung. If you are allergic to bee stings, it is recommended to involve a professional or let someone else do the job for you.

Dust and Plug Once the area has been sprayed, it is now time to dust the area and plug all the existing holes to eliminate the emerging bees. The best time to apply is the evening because this is when the female carpenter bee will be inside the hole and less active. This will also reduce your chance of being stung in your carpenter bee removal process. Use a hand duster and apply the dust to each of the holes. Start plugging these

holes after 14 days of dust application. The reason why you must wait before you seal the holes immediately after dusting is because of the risk of having immature carpenter bee growing into an adults and boring its way out by chewing the plug.

Prevention is better than cure Once you have eliminated the carpenter bees from your property, don't stop the treatment. Keep up the regular spraying and keep an eye out for the bee activity. This way you will be able to stop them before they make holes into your structure!
