How Do You Get Rid Of Hornets

The removal of hornets is a dangerous process that either requires good knowledge of how to do it or help of a professional. Hornets make their nest for the eggs. This is the safety mechanism of hornets to protect their little ones from harm. These nests can be as huge as a soccer ball or as small as a golf ball. In these nests, one can find thousands of hornets which make it a risky proposition to deal with it without safety equipment and expertise. They can be found in trees, attic beams, house creases, bushes or any other hidden area. Here are some guided tips that you can use for hornet removal from your property.

Be patient when removing the nest When you see a hornet nest in your property, it may seem a little intimidating, especially if it poses a threat to you or people in your surroundings. If you know the exact location of the nest, avoid walking in its path. Just because the nest is there doesn’t mean it has to be removed. If you see that nest located on top of tree then it is ok to leave it alone. Hornets are an important part of the ecosystem so unless they are a direct threat, avoid touching the nest. Remove it yourself only if it is small You can remove the hornets if they are just in the beginning stages of their formation or under the size of a golf ball. The trick here is to flatten the nest so that it doesn’t expand any further. You can do it throwing a large brick at it which breaks the formation and makes the surface flat. Once you have hit

the bull’s eye, you can just leave it alone without messing with it further. The formation will dissipate on its own after some time. Mark the area if the formation is big If you see that the nest has expanded and is much larger in formation then using the brick technique is not such a great plan. What you can do is mark the area with a caution tape and put out a red flag so that you can keep the visitors out. Next, you can buy a can of jet spray for removing the hornets. This pressurized can achieve greater distance and push when spraying at the nest. The best time to do it is late in the evening around 9-10 PM when the hornets are asleep. Jet Spray for Hornet Removal Use a flashlight with red filter to see your target and use the spray from a safe distance for at least 10 seconds for the spray to effectively do the job. Once you are done, run away from the area as soon as possible. Call professionals if the nest is bigger If the formation is too large for you to handle, it is advisable to call professionals who will exercise proper caution and will conduct the hornet removal process with proper equipment and safety precautions.
