Invitations of Jesus Trevor Hudson

MARCH 2014

NEW RELEASES

How do we respond to the invitations of Jesus? Trevor Hudson calls us to consider the invitations Jesus offers in 5 dimensions of life. In his gentle and intimate style, Trevor leads you to see where Christ is touching your life, calling you to deeper relationship with God, self, and neighbor. This 6-week small group study includes a Leader’s Guide for small-group facilitation.

A House of Prayer is about the movement from isolation to serenity by means of praying together, spiritually or physically. Steagald believes that praying together allows the church to become “one,” as Jesus intended, and the “body” the apostle Paul described. Using memoir, travelogue, reflection on scripture, church history, and psychology, Steagald builds a compelling case for congregations to put more focus on praying as a community.

New Hymns for God and Neighbor

How Liturgy Shapes Us

Liturgy. For some, the word evokes the grandeur and mystery of church tradition. For others, it recalls a rigid and obsolete form of worship. Through this resource, readers will come to see liturgy not as a rote worship exercise, but as a means of uniting their hearts and minds with God’s purpose. Ideal for new members, a congregation’s worship committee or anyone who wants to know more about liturgical worship.

Sing a new song! Songs of Grace includes over 70 new hymn texts to be sung to many well-loved and wellknown hymn tunes. Accompanying each new hymn is a devotion or meditation to be used for reflection with the melodic prayers.

The Walk to Emmaus is an experience of Christian spiritual renewal and formation that begins with a 3-day short course in Christianity. It is an opportunity to meet Jesus Christ in a new way as God’s grace and love is revealed to you through other believers. The objective of Emmaus is to inspire, challenge, and equip the local church members for Christian action in their homes, churches, communities and places of work. Emmaus lifts up a way for our grace-filled lives to be lived and shared with others.

Who Should Go to Emmaus?

THE WALK TO EMMAUS

A Journey with Christ

Emmaus is open to members of any Christian denomination. Emmaus is for the development of Christian leaders who: • are members of a local church • have a desire to strengthen their spiritual lives • may have unanswered questions about their faith • understand that being a Christian involves responsibility • are willing to dedicate their everyday lives to God in an ongoing manner

What Happens on the Emmaus Weekend? You will enjoy 3 days of singing, learning, laughing, worshiping, reflecting, praying and participating in small groups. Discussions center around fifteen talks given by laity and clergy. These talks present the theme of God’s grace, how that grace comes alive in the Christian community and how it is expressed in the world. You’ll also discover how grace is real in your life, how you live a life of grace, and how you bring that grace to others.

What Happens After the Emmaus Weekend? You are invited to have a closer walk with Christ for the rest of your life; this is called the Fourth Day. Those who attend a Walk to Emmaus are encouraged to: • Expand their own spiritual lives through worship, study and active participation in their local church • Become more active disciples of Christ in service to the world To nurture this process of discipleship, the Emmaus movement offers specific opportunities. First, groups of 4 to 6 people meet weekly to reflect on their spiritual journey and encourage one another in accountable discipleship. Second, there are monthly community gatherings where Emmaus participants meet for fellowship, worship and instruction. Third, community members are regularly informed of the support needs of upcoming Walk to Emmaus weekends, and other opportunities for servant leadership.
