MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN FOR STUDENTS Welcome to the Pace family! I am confident that you and your student will find a home away from home on Pace University’s Pleasantville Campus. We offer a diverse array of experiences, programs, and services to help your student flourish, and this guide—as well as our Orientation program—is designed to support their first year at Pace. We are committed to their success. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions along the way! I look forward to seeing your student find their sense of belonging and live out our shared mission of Opportunitas. Please join us for Family Weekend on Saturday, October 3 for a fun-filled weekend of events. Go Setters! Sincerely,

Rachel S. Carpenter, Interim Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean for Students, Pleasantville

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What services are available to help students make a successful transition to college life? The Center for Academic Excellence (www.pace.edu/CAE) is the comprehensive academic support network at Pace University that can guide students through their academic and social transitions to college while helping them move forward to graduation. In addition, the Office of Student Development and Campus Activities (www.pace.edu/SDCA) helps students get connected to campus by offering a variety of programming and opportunities to get involved in clubs and organizations on campus.

Do you provide tutoring services for students? Free tutoring is available both in-person and online for specific subject areas and no appointment is necessary. For more information, visit the Learning Center website at www.pace.edu/tutoring. How do I view and pay my student’s bill? Your student will receive a bill online on their MyPace Portal. Bills are emailed approximately four weeks before the scheduled payment date. You can learn more about billing and payments at www.pace.edu/billing.

How do students get involved on campus?

What is FERPA?

The Office of Student Development and Campus Activities provides an array of student groups and educational, social, and professional development co-curricular opportunities for students. Students can download the SetterSync app to obtain a list of student groups and information on upcoming meetings and events on campus. The Pulse, the weekly student newsletter, is also mailed directly to students’ email accounts every Monday. The Pulse provides information about upcoming events, opportunities for research and scholarships, and student profiles. Read the latest issue at www.pace.edu/pulse.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law designed to protect the privacy of a student’s education records. Once a student reaches 18 years of age or attends a postsecondary institution, the rights created by FERPA transfer from the student’s parents to the student. For more information on FERPA, visit www.pace.edu/FERPA.

How do students register for classes? At Orientation, students will meet with their academic advisor to review their schedule for the fall semester. In their first year, students will meet with their UNV 101 professor during advisement period to discuss class selection for the following semester. For more information about registration, visit www.pace.edu/registration.

Are students required to have health insurance? All full-time undergraduate and graduate domestic and international students must have health insurance. Students will automatically be enrolled in Pace’s accident/sickness plan when they register. You may waive the school’s insurance if you provide comparable proof of coverage. You can learn more about health insurance and waivers at www.pace.edu/health-insurance. Are meal plans required? All full-time residents and commuters are required to purchase a campus meal plan. You can learn more at www.pace.edu/dining.
