For the past few years 1 + 1 has always been 2, but I write to you today to let you know that there has been a sudden change, and 1 + 1 is now 3. Before you furrow your brows and dismiss me, please read this letter in its entirety. Every time I lay with you, you prove to me that the answer to this question is 2, and that no other answer would ever work. But 1 night about eight weeks ago our calculations were off, and now the answer is 3. I fear to tell you in person, because I know that you have a wife and that with her the answer becomes 4, and then when you add in your son it becomes 5. My love, you need not worry about them, because they were never in our equation to begin with. You have shown me that our love can only exist between the 2 of us, but I really think that this thing we created together can share in our love as well.
