RSA Conference 2018 | Guide to the UK Pavilion
RSA Conference 2018 Guide to the UK Pavilion Welcome to GREAT Britain and Northern Ireland – Home to one of the world’s most advanced cyber security industries. The UK’s cyber sector is respected across the globe for its expertise, breadth of capabilities and world class advice, products and services. Worth £22 billion, the sector employs over 100,000 people and is growing at a rate of 10% per year. Cyberspace is a vital, and expanding, part of the UK economy. UK Government is committed to making the UK one of the most secure places in the world to do business. The UK’s cyber industry offers services and technical solutions to protect the critical assets of government, businesses and organisations to detect and prevent cybercrime and protect consumers. Well-established providers have decades of experience protecting highly classified networks across a range of locations and domains, whilst UK SMEs have won a range of global security and innovation awards for new technologies and products. The UK has always led the development of cyber security capability across the world. This strength is built on a strong heritage of world leading research and investigation into cyber technologies - from Charles Babbage and the programmable computer to Sir Timothy Berners-Lee and the world wide web, alongside Alan Turing and the code-breakers at Bletchley Park, to the important work of GCHQ. We recognise that whilst the internet has brought many fantastic and very positive changes to our world today, there are also those who wish us and our allies harm. To tackle this, in 2016 the UK Government announced £1.9 billion investment to be put toward the new National Cyber Security Strategy, which set out to build a Britain fit for the future with the UK at the forefront of innovative industries, particularly around AI and the digital economy. This led to the launch in November 2016 of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), which acts as the authoritative voice on information security in the UK. I would highly recommend its work on Active Cyber Defence, which aspires to protect the majority of people in the UK from the majority of the harm, caused by the majority of the attacks, for the majority of the time. It is intended to tackle the high-volume commodity
attacks that affect people’s everyday lives, rather than the highly sophisticated and targeted attacks, which the NCSC deals with in other ways. You can read the one-year-on report on the NCSC website (www.ncsc. gov.uk). The national cyber strategy also led to the development of two new cyber security innovation centres, one in Cheltenham with another due to open shortly in London, as well as additional programmes to develop existing talent and drive growth. Building upon this momentum, last month the Secretary of State for the Department for International Trade, Dr. Liam Fox, launched the UK’s new Cyber Security Export Strategy. This builds upon the work set out in the 2016 cyber strategy, and recognizes that a thriving UK cyber security sector is a key national security and prosperity objective. Composed of 800 innovative companies, the UK cyber sector currently exports £1.5 billion worth of technology per year, a number anticipated to grow in line with the overall global spend on cybersecurity products which is expected to exceed £759 billion by 2021. Given the increasing number of cyber attacks on NATO countries and companies of all sizes, in addition to the accelerated pace of digital change and the expansion of global digital economies, there has never been a better time to promote the UK’s world-leading expertise to international markets and to strengthen the defence capabilities within the UK and our trusted allies. The UK cyber security companies exhibiting in the Department for International Trade’s RSA 2018 pavilion are all exemplars of this world leading industry and you can learn more about them from this brochure. As well as showcasing their innovative solutions in a broad range of cyber security requirements, such as the protection of critical assets and infrastructure, cutting edge research and the prevention and detection of cybercrime, they are also looking to develop close partnerships and forge lasting relationships that will support the US cyber security sector in its aims of securing the safety of the nation. On behalf of these exhibiting companies, I would like to welcome you to our UK Pavilion at South Hall Expo S1821. Andrew Whittaker, HM Consul General to San Francisco

Garrison www.garrison.com Garrison Technology has developed patented isolation technology to provide hardware-enforced secure remote browsing for enterprise customers. Garrison’s unique approach ensures a great user experience is maintained even when deployed across the largest of enterprises, whilst delivering unparalleled security. Click on every link and browse the web with confidence. Remote browsing promises a massive risk reduction in the face of threats such as phishing, drive-bydownloads and watering hole attacks. But real-world experience shows that many implementations of remote browsing fall short either on the underlying security model, or on the user experience delivered. Garrison’s unique Silicon Assured Video Isolation technology (Garrison SAVIŽ) provides a gamechanging platform for secure remote browsing: security so strong that it is trusted for use by governments at the highest security levels, but at a price point and with a level of usability that makes it suitable for deployment at scale across mainstream enterprises.
