In the initial days it seems great enough but gradually the spark, the passion diminishes. Whenever we visit a beach or a commercial swimming pool, the lifeguards steal the show. As soon as we see a lifeguard, we start despising their relaxed and adventurous work life and the other associated perks. Administrators: This position is provides administrative support. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point & outlook) and computers is required. Apart from these good accuracy in typing, pleasant personality, strong customer service skills, team worker is also desired. Program coordinators: People designated to this position are entitled to manage the administration of various swimming programs. They are entrusted with the responsibility of staff rosters, class schedules, admissions and customer service. Most of the applicants for the post for a program coordinator have an aquatic teaching experience with strong administrative and time management skills. Swimming instructors: Applicants should be professionals with strong swimming knowledge. They are required to teach swimming to others (both children and adults and specialist groups) as well as assist in water safety. Though permanent positions do exist however, most positions are on seasonal or contractual basis.
Lifeguards: These individuals supervises water safety and carry out rescue of swimmers. If you're a certified lifeguard, there are plenty of opportunities in leisure and community centres, privately owned pools etc. Swimming pool lifeguards are also required to know multi-skills such as, swimming pool cleaning, monitoring chemical balance and helping with other centre programs. With plenty of part time and seasonal job roles, permanent positions also exist.
