Co-Director, Caster Family Center for Nonprofit Research Responsible for design and implementation of interdisciplinary graduate degree program and research center including, curriculum design, oversight of research projects, Advisory Board recruitment/management, faculty recruitment/coordination/evaluation, student advising, fundraising, event planning, program evaluation, marketing/community outreach, public relations, strategic planning, and teaching. Program Officer, Local Initiatives Support Corporation, San Diego Office Worked on a part time basis to develop and oversee HUD-funded programs to build the capacity of local nonprofit housing developers.

1986 - 1994

President/CEO, Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations, Boston, MA Turned depleted non-profit into national model for CDC associations. The coalition is an advocate that procures multi-million dollar grant and private financing to build CDC capacity in housing, economic development, community organizing, staff diversity.

1985 - 1986

Director of Distribution, Citizens Energy Corporation, Boston, MA Administered seven state, $5 million fund providing home energy assistance payments to low-income individuals.

1981 - 1986

Assistant Director/Staff Director, Boston Urban Gardeners, Boston, MA


Fostered city-wide non-profit with 14 staffers dedicated to neighborhood open space development, green industry job creation and access to food for low- income people. 1980 - 1981

Assistant Director, Energy Conservation Operations, Worcester Community Action Council, Worcester, MA Administered 50 staff, $7 million federal program – Home Energy Assistance Program provided fuel payments to 10,000 clients; Dept. of Energy Weatherization Program trained CETA employees to weatherize 500 homes.

1978 - 1980

Coordinator, Community Food and Nutrition Program, Action for Boston Community Development, Boston, MA Directed federally-funded community gardening and nutrition advocacy program.

Since 1982 I have written more than 20 articles for a general audience on nonprofit governance topics, authored a book chapter, and edited a quarterly community newspaper with a circulation of 5,000.

Grants/Gifts: Since 2001, I have secured more than $4 million from individuals, corporations and foundations to support scholarships, public events and research work pertaining to the Nonprofit Leadership & Management Program and Caster Family Center for Nonprofit Research
