Dear Participant: On behalf of the University of San Diego School of Leadership and Education Sciences and the Center for Student Support Systems, I would like to invite you to participate at the 7th Annual Action Research Conference (previously known as the Symposium on Action Research) scheduled for May 14-15, 2010 in San Diego, California, USA. The conference strives to be the premier action research development event in North America and the Pacific Rim. The theme of the conference is “Empowerment and action research: Personal growth, professional development, and social change in educational and community settings.” The ‘family’ of action research includes a diverse collection of orientations and methods related to personal growth, professional development, and social change. A common feature in all the orientations is empowerment. This year’s USD Action Research Conference takes up the theme of empowerment in action research at the personal, professional, and political levels. The keynote speaker for the 2010 Action Research Conference is Dr. Jack Whitehead. He has been a lecturer in Education at the University of Bath for more than 30 years. His main purpose there is to contribute to the reconceptualization of educational theory from its propositional form to a living form. He has also co-authored numerous publications on the subject of Action Research. It would be an honor to have you join us at the University of San Diego for this event. If you have any questions or comments please contact me at the email address or telephone number listed below.

Sincerely, Lea Garza USD-SOLES Graduate Student 2010 Action Research Conference Event Coordinator leag-11@sandiego.edu or (619) 756-0792
