2 Units; 30 Classroom Hours

Office Hours: Required Reading: Course Length: Course Description:

This course is designed to broaden the student’s understanding of advanced fund raising activities, with a particular emphasis on capital and endowment campaigns. Building upon student’s prior coursework, the class allows students to apply their understanding of organizational strategic planning to prepare, plan and launch successful major gift fund raising efforts. During the class, students conduct an actual Campaign Feasibility Study for a San Diego nonprofit organization (pre‐selected by the instructor) as their class project. Working in small teams with various assignments, students act as “consultants” with the final development and presentation of a Campaign Study Report and Plan to the selected nonprofit. Coursework is based upon students’ analysis and discussion of actual case studies or field work with nonprofit organizations.
