REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS COURSE: Capital & Endowment Campaigns This course commences every spring semester (January). PROJECT SUMMARY: A team of students in this course will conduct a Campaign Feasibility Study for a nonprofit corporation that is seeking to launch a capital and/or endowment campaign in the near future. The resulting products will include a “draft” campaign brochure, a Feasibility Study Report and Campaign Plan.

Specific goals for the Feasibility Study Process are to: • Conduct an Internal Readiness Assessment, reviewing internal readiness of the organization to successfully handle launching and managing the proposed capital campaign. This assessment will include interviews with development staff and other appropriate agency leaders, and a review of internal systems of support structures necessary for future campaign success. • Identify and cultivate potential major campaign donors, through personal feasibility study interviews that engages their feedback on proposed plans and assess their willingness to support the campaign through a financial commitment. • Assess the likelihood of success for the proposed fundraising campaign goal. • Develop a supporting Campaign Plan that will lead the organization to success. (Note: If through this study process, the Study Team determines that tested funding goal is not fully achievable, the Team will identify an alternate Campaign Plan or options that will lead the organization to eventual success).

PROJECT FEE:

The nonprofit organization selected for the USD Student Project agrees to pay $5,000 for such work (with the understanding that the minimum full market rate for such a product is $30,000+). These funds will be applied to support scholarships for master’s degree students enrolled in the Nonprofit Leadership & Management Program.
