Dean’s Graduate Merit Award for Graduate Students in Learning and Teaching Program Description The University of San Diego through the School of Leadership and Education Sciences, and the Department of Learning and Teaching, is proud to offer the Dean’s Graduate Merit Award. This award is for selected students who have demonstrated academic merit and show a strong potential for success in the field of education. The Award helps offset direct USD educational costs of one year and is applied as a university credit to USD educational expenses (e.g., USD tuition, fees, campus room and board) incurred by the student. The Merit Award includes an opportunity and expectation that each recipient will collaborate with faculty on research and scholarly activities and related projects. The time commitment varies according to the nature of the activity, but typically involves 75-125 hours per semester. The Dean’s Graduate Merit Award is allocated in increments of $5,000, $10,000, $15,000, and $25,000.
Application Procedure 1. Complete the scholarship application form. 2. Submit the required one-page essay 3. Submit a letter from a professor recommending him/her for the award. This letter should address the applicant’s academic performance and potential to contribute to the field of education upon completion of his or her degree program.
All scholarship application materials must be submitted with the application and are due by the application deadlines listed on the SOLES website. Priority will be given to early applicants.
