2010 COMMUNITY COLLEGE SUMMER LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
University of San Diego June 1216, 2010 You are invited to join community college leaders from across California, Hawaii and the Western Pacific for the fifth annual Summer Leadership Academy, sponsored by the Department of Leadership Studies at the University of San Diego. This academy is unique among other leadership programs in that the curriculum is based on The Leadership Circle®, a thoroughly research‐based and proven process for enhancing leadership effectiveness.
• Individualized Program Prior to the beginning of the Summer Academy, each participant will take an on‐line TLC assessment and will select 5‐7 others to give them (anonymous) feedback in the process. During the Academy participants will receive personal and confidential consultation related to their TLC profile results. You will then develop your own Action Plan for follow‐through back on campus.
• Addressing Community Colleges Faculty from the University of San Diego and senior leaders from California Community Colleges have collaborated in designing a curriculum for the Summer Academy that balances personalized developmental activities with practical applications sessions. The content sessions address themes such as leaders as learners, data‐based decisions, integrated and strategic planning, viewing campus cultures as systems, multi‐cultural aspects of leadership, and student success strategies.
• Learning Community Approach The Academy format includes individual coaching, small group activities, and large group seminars all of which are arranged in a dynamic, learning community approach. The program takes place on the beautiful campus of the University of San Diego in the recently constructed facilities of the School of Leadership and Education Sciences.
