Nonprofit Management Certificate and MBA Students Students enrolled in USD’S MBA Program are eligible for a certificate in Nonprofit Management which may be obtained by completing nine units within the School of Leadership and Education Sciences’ Nonprofit Leadership & Management Program. The Program works as follows: 1) With the approval of the MBA Director, MBA students may take 6 units of elective coursework from other USD graduate programs. To receive the certificate in Nonprofit Leadership & Management students must take 9 units of which 6 will be credited towards the MBA requirements. To receive the certificate, the remaining 3 units can be taken on a ‘pass/fail’ basis. 2) Once approval has been granted, students participating in the Certificate Program must enroll in EDLD 501: Nonprofit Management Fundamentals, 3 units (this course is offered during fall semester) 3) After that the remaining coursework may be chosen by the student. 4) Tuition charged for the 6 units of coursework fulfilling the elective requirements in the MBA Program will be charged at the same rate as MBA courses. Tuition cost for the additional 3 units to complete the Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management will be $500 per unit. 5) MBA students wishing to enter the Nonprofit Management Certificate Program do not need to complete the SOLES application process as acceptance into the MBA program fulfills admittance requirements. 6) At this point in time, enrollment in the Nonprofit Management Certificate Program will be limited to five MBA students annually and will be determined by the MBA Director. 7) For more information about the certificate program, or to receive permission to take Nonprofit Management courses, please contact the Director of Nonprofit Leadership & Management Program within SOLES, Pat Libby: plibby@sandiego.edu
