Performance Assessment for California Teachers Teaching Event Pilot Semester Spring 2007 Overview for Single Subject Student Teachers What is PACT? PACT (Performance Assessment for California Teachers) is a consortium of teacher preparation programs at a number of California Universities. These institutions have joined together to develop a teacher performance assessment. Successful completion of the teaching performance assessment will be required to earn a California Preliminary Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential. How does the Teaching Event differ from what students were required to do in the past? In the past, the exit assessment for teacher credential candidates at USD was a Final Portfolio that contained reflections on the TPEs and evidence chosen from throughout their student teaching experience. The Teaching Event is an integrated product, where all evidence comes from one unit that you will create throughout student teaching and implement near the end of your experience. As in the past, the product will be submitted as a final portfolio. How will I submit the teaching event? You will submit your teaching event as a final portfolio on TaskStream under Exit Assessment in the Teacher Credential TPE Assessment Program PLUS you will submit a DVD with your video to Dr. Linda Siefert, Director of Assessment. When will the Teaching Event portfolio be due? You must submit your teaching event portfolio by May 18, 2007. What documentation will I need to understand and to complete the Teaching Event? You will need six documents, which you will download from the following website and bring to each student teaching seminar meeting, starting with the second meeting. These materials and other information will be discussed in detail at these meetings. PACT Website: www.pacttpa.org From the TE Materials tab 1. Making Good Choices 2. PACT Videotaping Policies 3.
