SDSU-USD Doctoral Program in Education Qualifying Exam 2 Manuscript Submission Guidelines I. Submission Guidelines The student must submit QE2 as a manuscript compliant with the most recent edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, unless the publication to which it will be submitted specifically calls for another style. The manuscript must be suitable for submission to a specifically targeted refereed publication selected from the approved list of Educational Technology or Literacy journals (located on the program website). The number of words will be dictated by the editorial guidelines of the journal. The student must be sole author. It is highly recommended that students confer with a USD or SDSU faculty member prior to submission of QE2. A photocopied description of the targeted journal and that journal’s editorial guidelines for perspective authors must accompany the manuscript. Merely a reference to the journal website is not acceptable. The student must also submit with QE2 a cover letter to the journal editor. If the manuscript has already been published or is in press, the student’s submission to the Review Committee shall include, in addition to the guidelines and manuscript proper, a copy of the published article or galleys and all correspondence with the publisher. This is a reminder that the student must be the sole author of the publication. Note: the criteria for evaluation are under a different file, so carefully read this document prior to submitting QE2. Even a published manuscript may not totally meet the criteria set forth for QE2. Students will submit an electronic copy to the SDSU JDP office (cbalzer@mail.sdsu.edu) according to one of the two stated deadlines. There are two opportunities to submit, one in April and the other in May. The SDSU Program Office will be handling the QE2 submission and process. Early April Submission March 2nd, Friday students email their Intent to Submit Form to the SDSU JDP office April 3rd, Tuesday students submit an electronic version of their QE2 May 16th, Wednesday students are notified of results with a day or two leeway June 12th, Tuesday students submit revisions to JDP office July 9th, Friday students notified of results with a day or two leeway OR Late May Submission May 2nd, Wednesday students email their Intent to Submit Form to the SDSU JDP office students submit an electronic version of their QE2 May 21st, Monday July 2nd, Monday students are notified of results with a day or two leeway July 30th, Monday students submit revisions to JDP office August 24th , Friday students notified of results with a day or two leeway
