Degrading Compactness Rapid development of highrise residential building have restrict the locals of Kg. Bharu from having spaces for relieve or to “breathe”, further weakening what they once strived on having a tight knit community.

Deterioration of Identity The recent proposal of replacing a local entertainment hub known as “Pentas Pasar Minggu” for a residential highrise is one of the few signs of deterioration, further weakening the locality of Kg. Bharu.

Uncontrolled Pollution Constant improper waste disposal on site, especially from the well known “Food Street” is left untreated on a daily basis, creating an unpleasant facade along the street of Jln. Raja Muda Musa.

Generational Void Existing social disconnect between the older generation of Hakka Village and the newer generation of developments have led to many social misunderstandings.

Identity and Culture Threat With multiple proposals and requests to remove the village as a whole, the locals are worried that their richness in heritage, history and culture would be lost.

Diminishing Residence The lack of growth in terms of development of the village forced the youth to relocate elsewhere, further diminishing the vibrance of the village.
