Dear USHCC Members & Friends,
For more than 100 years, bp has been committed to supporting the U.S. economy as well as the communities where we live and work. bp employs about 12,000 people in the U.S. and supports more than 115,000 additional jobs. We are proud of our history in America, and the longstanding commitment to the U.S.
And now, bp’s commitment to America goes beyond safely providing the energy and jobs that drive economic prosperity, but we are reimagining energy for people and our planet. We are aiming to reduce carbon in our operations and production, as well as grow new low carbon businesses, products and services. We also support a wide range of institutions and initiatives that strengthen our communities through organizations such as the USHCC.
Our partnership with the USHCC stretches nearly a decade, and our commitment to the important work and mission of the USHCC is stronger than ever. The more than 4.7 million Hispanic-owned businesses represented by the USHCC are such a critical part of the U.S. economy – today and in the future. We are proud to stand with you.
BP was one of the first major corporations in the U.S. to create a formal program aimed at increasing supplier diversity. Across the U.S., bp has spent more than $12.8 billion with over 1,000 diverse and small business enterprises since 2010. And we remain committed to increasing our spend with diverse suppliers and we reaffirmed that commitment by announcing we will double our spend with USbased diverse suppliers by 2023.
The quality of our work depends on the quality of our people, suppliers, communities we engage and partners like the USHCC. Together we can continue to build back better as we work to reimagine energy for people and for the world.
Sincerely,
Ray Dempsey, Jr.
