Dear USHCC Members and Friends,
Welcome to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) virtual national conference. We are proud to partner with the USHCC and to support the national conference. American’s long-standing partnership with the USHCC continues to thrive because we share the common purpose of developing vibrant communities by connecting people and economies.
Our support for diverse organizations and our initiatives in the diversity and inclusion space are important to us as a company. The contribution of cash and in-kind support including AAdvantage miles and volunteer hours are just a few of the ways we’ve supported the USHCC.
Our purpose as an airline is to care for people on life’s journey, and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment is part of every journey. We encourage people to bring their authentic selves to work, and to welcome different backgrounds, cultures and experiences that enrich our work culture and our business.
Even during these uncertain times for the economy and our business, we have a responsibility to address systemic racism. We understand actions matter over words. At the core of air travel lies the mission to connect people. We can only do that when we embrace the diversity the world has to offer. We seek to embed diversity, equity and inclusion into everything we do, and we have never had a greater responsibility to do so than today.
Over the past few years, we’ve taken several important steps to increase our focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. We established the company’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to ensure we implement best practices across our business. We’ve also delivered implicit bias training to more than 100,000 team members and created a customer relations team to resolve complaints related to discrimination. At American Airlines, we will continue to fight for the equality and respect every human being deserves, and strive to become a leader in corporate equity.
I’m so proud to work for a company that supports diverse organizations making an impact in the business community. On behalf of the team at American Airlines, thank you for your partnership.
Best wishes for a successful conference!
