Dear USHCC Members, Chamber Leaders, Sponsors, and Participants,

On behalf of Comcast NBCUniversal Telemundo’s 200,000 employees, we are honored to support the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2020 Annual Convention. This year has been like none other in modern history – our community and country have faced significant challenges: a global health pandemic, economic hardship, fires, and extreme storms. Yet we still unite to mobilize and advocate as our nation’s leading Hispanic business leaders and entrepreneurs.

I am proud of the partnership that Comcast NBCUniversal Telemundo shares with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. I am honored to serve on this organization’s Board of Directors. We have collaborated on important initiatives during this year, including briefing members on PPP Loans, public affairs support to uplift the stories of Hispanic businesses, and refreshing the public policy blueprint to reflect policy principles to support job creation and growth.

We are engaged in programs with partners while our company is working hard to support our customers, employees, and communities during this unprecedented time. So far, we have committed more than $500 million to support our employees where operations have been closed or impacted, made work from home options as broadly available as possible, and enhanced safety measures for customerfacing employees. Our technology and engineering teams work tirelessly to support our network operations 24/7 to ensure network performance and reliability. Those networks have held up remarkably well, despite an increase of 32% in Internet traffic. We are committed to keeping our customers connected to the Internet during economic hardship because we know accessible and reliable Internet is more critical than ever.

Comcast has also expanded access to Internet Essentials, the nation’s largest, most comprehensive, and successful internet adoption program that has connected more than 10 million Americans to high-speed Internet at home since 2011. Today, eligible new Internet Essentials customers receive 60 days of service free. And we’ve increased the speed of this internet service for all customers. To learn more, please visit www.InternetEssentials.com.

And while we spend more time at home, Telemundo, NBC, and Sky news teams work around the clock on news coverage to keep us informed in English and Spanish. While we multi-task between conference calls and video meetings, Comcast has partnered with Common Sense Media to curate thousands of hours of free educational content for children – available in Spanish and English, to help parents are working from home and support learning for kids K-12.

I am hopeful that these efforts and our partnership with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will set the pace for better days ahead. I am looking forward to the dialogue at this year’s virtual Convention, and I am hopeful that we will continue our work together, in person, very soon!

Sincerely,

Jackie Puente
