In April, the School of Marketing hosted their third annual Student Research Showcase. This event is planned and hosted by the school’s Student Research Task Force, and this year, they decided to open it up to students from across the college. A total of 23 students participated in giving 18 research presentations - representing undergraduate and graduate students from the Hattiesburg and Gulf Park campuses. Presentations spanned various Southern Miss Business disciplines, including marketing, sport management, international business, hospitality and tourism, economic development, healthcare marketing, and human resource management. A total of 23 students presented their research, with some earning special recognitions:

Hospitality and tourism management senior, Sophie Unson (Dr. Wei Wang and Dr. Kristina Harrison, advisors) and marketing senior, Lauren Beverly (Dr. Jamye Foster, advisor) successfully defended their Honors thesis research projects

The People’s Choice Award went to junior marketing major, Ka’lon Duncanson (Dr. Bradley Winton, advisor).

Junior marketing and economics major, Landon McFarland (Dr. Joanne Cao, advisor) won Best in Proposal Phase, with junior interior design major, Robbie McDonald (Dr. Gallayanee Yaoyuneyong, advisor) winning runner-up in the category.

The completed research category, Best in Final, was swept by Master of Science in Economic Development students. Faiyaz Hussian won the top award, with Abigail Douglas earning runner-up. Both were mentored by Dr. Chad Miller.
