BISHOP

ROSE THIS FEATURE WAS WRITTEN BEFORE THE LAMBETH CONFERENCE WAS POSTPONED

Before the Coronavirus pandemic, the Anglican world was scheduled to descend on Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin’s doorstep in 2021. Her diocese in Canterbury would have hosted the Lambeth Conference and welcomed some 1,000 bishops and their spouses from every corner of the Communion. For the vast majority, it was to be their first Lambeth. Bishop Rose attended the last one in 2008 as chaplain to the spouses. Her memory of it gives an added sense of anticipation of what is planned for the Lambeth Conference in 2021. ‘These are people who are key leaders within the life of the Church throughout the world,’ she says. ‘This is a huge organisation.’ She is excited by the theme, “God’s Church for God’s World”.
