Standard Cross Generational Communication and Why it Matters

I Highly recommend this book
Rise to Fortune It is believed Rafa Nadal has amassed $127mm in prize money that began acceleration in 2014 when he made $44mm. He is third behind Novak Djokovic at $153mm and Roger Federer at $131mm. The $127mm is a fraction of his earnings compared to Nike, Babolat, Santander Financial Group, Kia, and Richard Mille watches. What guarantees huge sponsorship income for the pros is television. Between points, the camera focuses on the upper body and face of the player with a match that can last up to three or four hours bringing more exposure to the brand. He also has a yacht hosting his family and friends cruising around the island. Family Dynamics Rafa's aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, sister, and parents have been closely tied since he was born. He was dealt a devastating blow in 2009 when his father informed him flying back after the Australian Open that his parents were getting divorced. This had such a massive effect on Rafa that he lost in the fourth round of the French and sustained a knee injury and an abdominal muscle tear that summer dropping from #1 to #3 in the world. He rebounded the next year winning the French, Wimbledon, and the US Open for the first time. Rafa is extremely close to his family. He has his family employed in his investments. His sister Maribel handles marketing for Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy, Uncle Toni directs all academy tennis activity, and his wife Mery oversees the Rafa Nadal Foundation. His father Sebastian is on the board of the Santander Financial Group. Sebastian is quite successful with investments all over Mallorca.
Standard The Written Word By Rick Willett USPTA Elite Professional Rafa Nadal - The King of the Court by Dominic Bliss This book by Dominic Bliss is a great insight into Rafa Nadal's life beyond the Grand Slam Championships. The author covers many facets of the court that have made him such a treasure on the court. The areas of his journey will include the early years, his first ATP win, fear and fearless, rise to fortune, family dynamics, and what's next after tennis. Early Years Rafa Nadal was born in Monacor, Mallorca June 3, 1986. The Catalan dialect is spoken across the island with the word Nadal meaning Christmas. Rafa started playing tennis at age four at the Club Tennis Monacor. Although this tennis club was shabby mid century, Rafa spent much of his youth here playing tennis several hours a day. Until he was eleven, he played both football and tennis. At first, Rafa thought tennis was boring compared to the constant action of football with his friends. He also hit two handed on both his forehand and backhand. He played this way for some time before Uncle Toni told him that professional players don't play this way, so the forehand needs to be a single handed shot. Young Rafa did what he said finding the left handed forehand most natural. The irony is he brushes his teeth, writes, and plays golf right handed. Rafa was in clinics with other kids that Uncle Toni coached. Rafa said he was really hard on him, yelled at him, used rough language, and frightened him. When he'd come to practice being the only one, Rafa would get a sinking feeling in his stomach. Uncle Toni started coaching Rafa solo when he was thirteen. Toni instilled character in Rafa having him pick up more balls than others and sweep the clay courts when training ended. Toni would pelt Rafa with tennis balls if he was not focused. Imagine doing that now. A tennis professional would be fired on the spot. Being disciplined surrounded young Rafa. His parents taught him politeness, decorum, and deference to others. When visitors came, he was expected to greet them in front of their house. His parents also taught him to exchange greetings with visitors. Further, his parents instilled manners at the table, respect for others, and overall etiquette. His father taught Rafa to be gracious in competition. He was told to congratulate individual members of the winning football team and his opponents in tennis if he lost. Uncle Toni remained on Rafa's coaching team until 2017 leaving to head up the new Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy. This showed me how important it was to his family to carry on the hallmarks of his family name. This translates today in his on court interviews by being gracious, polite, and complimentary of his opponent. Rafa is never critical in his interviews, nor has he thrown his racquet or yelled at an umpire. ATP Championship In 2004, Rafa was 18 traveling the world to Dubai, India, Italy, California, and Melbourne. He was beaten in the third round by Leyton Hewitt in Australia. By the spring, Rafa was in severe pain suffering from a left ankle stress fracture. This was at the beginning of the clay court season his preferred surface. This kept him sidelined most of the summer. In August, he traveled to the Prokam Open in Poland. He breezed through many rounds attributed to taking the injury break. He played Jose Acasuso in the finals. Nadal had his opponent running up and down the baseline plus one side to the other. One exchange was 19 shots.
Nadal defeated Acasuso in straight sets winning his first ATP tournament. Nadal went from 71 in the world to the top 50 after winning the Prokam Open. Fear and Fearless One would never detect that Rafa would not be as fearless off the court as he is on the court. He is very afraid of the dark. He will sleep with the television on in his living room. Once the power went off in his home, and he became scared; Rafa called his mother to remedy the darkness by having him light candles in his house. He will sleep with all the lights on. Some speculation asserts this is originally due to being unable to see what is around you. He is fearful of motorcycles, helicopters, cars, and animals. Sometimes he can be seen driving slowly in his Evo around Monacor.
What's Next In 2018, there was a deadly flash flood in Mallorca killing thirteen and destroying homes and businesses. This had an impact on Rafa's life as he rushed in to help clear debris, house those without a home at the academy, and donating $lmm. When he retires from tennis, he said he wanted to focus on the Rafa Nadal Foundation helping underserved children and expanding the school they have built in India. There will also be time devoted to the Rafa Nadal Academy. This book includes infographics of his career with competitive Grand Slam wins, serving speeds, percentage wins on serves and returns, plus injury comebacks. This biography has some valuable takeaways that include the importance of family, having good manners, representing your family and country favorably, and self discipline. It also illustrates the value of hard work, giving 120% all the time, and gratitude for what you've been given.

Give a brief descrip on of your tennis/other career: I graduated from Methodist University’s PTM program in 2019. I was fortunate enough to have 3 amazing internships, 2 summers at The Bridgehampton Club in The Hamptons and 1 summer at Roaring Gap Club in the mountains of NC. They led me to my current posi on at Chapel Hill Country Club a er gradua on. When did you start playing tennis? When I was 3 years old, following in my big sisters footsteps!
What other sports did you play? I played basketball from kindergarten un l 6th grade when my love of tennis took over. What moved you to teach tennis? I wanted to share my love of the game with others. There is something special for me when I see my students so excited about tennis and improving! What are your hobbies? DIY Pinterest cra s, baking, and disc golf What is your favorite movie? Any Hallmark movie, especially the Christmas ones (I’ m a sucker for a sappy love story) Are you reading anything right now? I don’t read much, but I never miss an issue of ‘The Southern Standard’ What is your favorite sports team? NC State (Shh don’t tell the Tar Heels at my club) Who is your favorite player of all me? My dad, because he taught me to play tennis. What person would you most like to have lunch with? Here are 5 Advantages to playing Pickleball that will help their tennis game:Footwork: Pickleball will help lateral movement as coverage around the No Volley Zone (Kitchen) makes them move quicker and faster to cover the court.
Volleys and reaction: Because the ball moves so fast when they are volleying at the net, your players hand/eye coordination will improve which makes reaction time faster and they will learn to be compact with their volleys, because they don’t have time to swing.
Share this information with your tennis players who are apprehensive about trying something new.
I hear so much from tennis players that they will not play Pickleball because it may hurt their tennis game. Well, I am going to tell you that playing Pickleball will help their tennis game.
5 Reasons for Pickleball by Tom Cascarano USPTA Pickleball Professional and Southern Hall of Fame
Feel and Finesse: The most used shot in Pickleball is the Dink which is a finesse shot. Mastering the Dink will help them with their finesse playing tennis (drops shots. angles, lobs, lob Cardiovolleys).workout: Because the sport is played in such a quick manner (one serve and points are played fast) they will get a great cardio workout while having fun.
Social: Pickleball is such an equalizing sport which means players of different levels can play on the same court. This can be a great sport for friends, couples or families to play together. I hope this gives you a better understanding of how Pickleball can actually help your tennis game. Now its time for you to come out and give pickleball a try.

Why Authen city Ma ers and How to Promote It in Your Business
About Jeff Miller. As a kid, I played every sport I could fit into my schedule and everything else I’d watch on TV. I found my niche in tennis and played at the collegiate level un l I went on to play professionally. I traveled around the world for tournaments mee ng people and seeing places that taught me to see beyond my bubble. On the courts is where some of the most meaningful coaching occurred. While coaching my tennis clients to master the tools to succeed on the courts I also found myself coaching many of them on the tools to succeed in life ma ers as well. . I want to see everyone succeed and be the greatest version of you. So I’ve made it my life mission to help people WIN.
3. Be Accountable We all make mistakes, but we’re not all professional enough to admit it. If you make a mistake in running your business, own up to it and apologize before your reputa on gets damaged even further. In many situa ons, being accountable for your mistakes can turn a nominally bad situa on into an advantageous state of affairs. Here’s a real life example for you. A while back, Domino's CEO Patrick Doyle agreed with customer reviews that claimed that their products were far from perfect. Then, Doyle used a series of ads and videos to document how they’re redesigning their pizzas from scratch. The campaign was a huge success, with their profits rising drama cally as a result.
The bo om line: vulnerability and authen city starts with leaders and then spreads through the en re organiza on. The more open you are with your employees on these ma ers, the more comfortable people will feel with taking risks at work. In the long run, that vulnerability will lead to be er ideas, be er strategies, and be er cri cal thinking.
1. Embrace Vulnerability First things first: your employees must feel you accept and welcome them for who they are. Unfortunately, professional environments where that’s the case are s ll few and far between. In these places, junior employees must never show they’re troubled or struggling and are forced to always produce their best work, no ma er what happens.
4. Back Up What You Say There’s a tradi onal English adage that says, “All mouth and no trousers.” It refers to someone who talks a good game but can’t back it up by delivering on his or her promises. Eventually, they get a certain reputa on, and people stop paying a en on to them. Many of today’s businesses fall into this category, with today’s savvy customers seeing straight through them. The solu on: be as transparent as you can, don’t make claims you can’t prove, and stay true to your core values and mission. If needs be, consider sacrificing short term profits to prove to your customers that you have their best interests in mind. When the mes get tough, that might be one of the few paths to true authen city.
2. Stay Consistent Once you’re happy with your workplace, it’s me to start thinking about your customers. For example, one thing that can boost your authen city is staying consistent across all your social pla orms. Many companies seem to operate in a completely different way across different pla orms, giving mixed messages to their customers that can lead to mistrust.
How do you make employees feel welcome? For starters, a li le humility will go a long way. Let them know that we all have faults, but that we can get through everything together. Even something as simple as taking someone out for a coffee and listening to their problems can make a world of difference when it comes to embracing vulnerability.
This is a big reason why authen city is one of the greatest compe ve edges you can find in business today. See, most successful organiza ons are very similar to one another: good products, solid customer service, and opera onal excellence. Authen city is one of the few things that can separate good companies from amazing ones. How can you demonstrate authen city in your business? There are plenty of poten al solu ons, but these four ps should get you started on the right foot.
by Jeff Miller Jeff Miller Coaching Clients, employees, and customers don’t always have much in common, but they all share one key quality: being human. And as humans, they can usually tell when someone is speaking “corporate talk” instead of being genuine with them. They know when someone’s priority is to adhere to policies and procedures rather than show real interest and compassion.
Now, it’s true that you should tailor your approach to specific pla orms. That said, your fundamental style, message, and iden ty should always remain the same. That’s the only way to convey your business as trustworthy and self assured, which is essen al for reinforcing your brand iden ty and company authen city.
Rarely do car trips consist of going from point A to B. More often, they are something like A to café to library to Joe's house to B. It's a good thing Google makes it possible to anticipate real trips. To add multiple destinations in the Google Maps mobile app, enter your starting point and your ultimate destination and then click the three dots in the top right corner. This will prompt a pop over menu with the option to "Add stop." Click that and you can add a route with multiple stops. You will even have the option to drag and drop stops within your itinerary. (Note that this doesn't work when you're using the mass transit option.)
Google Maps is a Swiss Army Knife chock full of hidden navigation, geospatial search, and customization tools. These tips and tricks will help you unlock your map app's full potential.
Customize Your Vehicle Icon If you're driving, Google lets you choose what car shows up on your navigation in the iOS and Android apps. In the app, plug in your destination and start up driving directions. Tap the icon that shows your current location and a pop up menu will appear with several car icon options: a sedan, a pickup truck, or an SUV. Change Directions Around with Drag & Drop When finding directions on the desktop version of Maps, you can maneuver your route to go through or away from specific locations via drag and drop. Just click and drag any part of your direction route to move around (this only works with directions for walking, driving, or biking it won't work with any mass transit options). That Little Person Has A Purpose See that little yellow person in the bottom right hand corner? That's "Peg Man" (or alternatively "the pegman"). You can pick little peggy up and drop him anywhere on maps and be thrown into that location's Street View. Once in Street View mode, he will be oriented with the current view in the embedded map window in the bottom left hand corner. Find Directions with a Single Click To get to where you're going, you can type in your destination address. Or right click where you're going on the map and it will prompt a pull down list, which you can use to find directions to or from that location.
Let Other People Drive Ride sharing services are a big part of the modern transportation mix, so Google added ride options from companies such as Lyft to its mobile app. Once you enter your destination, click the icon of the little figure attempting to hail a taxi or the mass transit option. You'll then be presented with nearby rideshare options along with the estimated time and fare. Then tap Open App to book your ride. Measure Any Distance Using the aforementioned right click tool, you can also calculate the distance of any two points on Earth. Choose "Measure distance," which will drop a point (signified by a white dot with a bold black line), then click anywhere else on the map, and the distance between the points will be calculated. Keep clicking to add more points on the map. The total trip distance will be calculated in the main card. Remember Where You Parked Remember that episode of Seinfeld where the gang spent the whole time wandering around a parking garage looking for their parked car? That episode (and many others) would not work in 2022, thanks to Google Maps. On Android, tap the blue location dot and select Save Your Parking, which will add a label to the Maps app, identifying where you parked. Tap that to add details like parking garage level and spot or the amount of time left before a meter expires. You can also set meter reminders, add a photo of where you parked, and send your parking location to friends. To find it later, tap the search bar up top and select Parking location. Or tap Driving down below, and look for Saved parking. To delete, tap Driving > Clear. Or tap "You parked here" on the map, select More Info on the bottom left, and tap Clear. Find Electric Vehicle Charging Stations The makeup of cars on the road is changing, and Google Maps is changing with it. You can now search "EV charging" or "EV charging station" in Google Maps to find the nearest locations to charge up your electric vehicle.
Inside Access Maps isn't just for the great outdoors. You can find out what's inside malls, airports, and other big buildings by finding the location in Maps, clicking on it, and then scrolling to Directory. You'll never wander around wondering if there's a Cinnabon again. Plot Multiple Locations
