Growing the American superyacht
THE U.S. SUPERYACHT ASSOCIATION (USSA) Over the decades, America has played a key role in building and creating magnificent superyachts across the globe. Our industry is made up of tens of thousands of passionate craftsmen, artisans, engineers, welders, painters, designers and many other manufacturing fields who have proven America’s ability and standards to which the world market aspires. We need to market the United States as the ultimate destination to build, refit, repair and provision these floating assets that employ a large segment of U.S. workers. We must also educate the world’s superyacht owners that America is not only a great place to build a yacht, but an amazing place to own a yacht and enjoy all that this great country has to offer.
Barriers to U.S. Global Market Growth The following make competing with foreign companies difficult and frequently impossible: Given that each large yacht spends an average of nearly $500,000 per visit, the economic impact of a yacht deciding not to visit the United States is dramatic. This is the segment that we can directly improve upon by acting now! • Inconsistent Regulatory Enforcement • Competing with foreign country subsidies of the large yacht segment — making for a non-level playing field. • Inequitable international trade agreements
The American Superyacht Industry • $6.1 Billion Industry 20% of the Global Market • 21% of the fleet has been built in America • 28,000 Direct Employees • 10% of the order book worldwide • 36% of the world’s Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWIs) Only 5% own large yachts! * Data from Global Economic Impact Study – Superyacht Group 2012

t industry means more jobs for Americans today!
➤ A Superyacht is defined as a recreational boat over 80’ ➤ There are only 4,400 superyachts worldwide—a small segment that makes a huge global economic impact
Come Sea U.S. is born! The Come SEA U.S. grass-roots marketing, education and advocacy campaign was developed by the industry to help increase the number of large yachts coming to the United States for the direct benefit of American Superyacht industry and it workers. What needs to happen now is that the thousands of people that can afford to buy, build, refit, repair, provision, or charter a yacht in America realize that a superyacht is the greatest entertainment asset on the market today and makes a huge socio-economic impact by directly and indirectly employing and supporting tens of thousands of individuals.
