2020: The Year in Photos

As we know, it was a year like no other. A few events took place before the world, and tennis, shut down. Then as people got creative and eventually back on court, we gathered photos that showed how tennis was safely played and enjoyed.

USPTA and USTA Missouri Valley teamed up to host a Net Generation workshop in Kansas City in February. As we know, it was a year like no other. A few events took place before the world, and tennis, shut down. Then as people got creative and eventually back on court, we gathered photos that showed how tennis was safely played and enjoyed.

Tennis on Campus Section Championships was one of the last events to take place before the COVID-19 shutdown. Students competed in Des Moines, Iowa, the first weekend in March.

The USTA launched the “Tennis at Home” initiative in late March as a way to keep tennis players active and connected. NetSet Ambassador Maya Martin of St. Louis, Missouri, was part of a section social media effort to promote the at-home activities. USTA Missouri Valley staff and players from all over the section also took part in the at-home fun!

League players in Lincoln, Nebraska competed safely with distancing and masks in June.

Omaha Tennis Association hosted a Sets and Sanitizer adult event in August.

Youth players took part in the Orange Ball Challenge at Harmon Park in Prairie Village, Kansas over the summer.

Kids participate in the River Cities Tennis Association carnival in Wichita, Kansas.

Missouri High School State Championships were rescheduled and held with safety measures.

Nebraska high school players organized UNState to safely finish off their seasons.

Junior Team Tennis leagues were safely run in several districts. Smiling faces competing at USTA Kansas district championships.

Several junior tournaments were also held thoughout the summer. Heart of America hosted an L4 junior tournament in September.
