What
are Student
Grievances
Student grievances are possible situations that might possibly involve the violation of a student's rights in general. Under PPS 1029b every student is given the right to file and lodge a complaint against any member of the University without fear. This is in order to preserve the well-being and_= safety’ of Thomasians.

the University of Santo Tomas which shall be composed of a Coordinator and two (2) faculty members. The Coordinator shall be appointed by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs upon the recommendation of the Dean. The two members of the Committee shall be appointed by the Dean from among the members of their faculty upon the recommendation of the Coordinator. The SWDC
shall investigate and resolve case/s of violation of the
Code of Conduct filed or initiated by any person from their college
against their student/s. The

Development Board (SWDB) from PPS 1029a The OSA shall take jurisdiction to investigate and resolve all other cases of violation of the Code of Conduct not cognizable by the SWDC. The OSA shall create a panel composed of three (3)

Disciplinary Action (based from PPS 1029a)
Procedure (based on PPS 1029a) i. The Coordinator or OSA shall require the person/ offended party to put the accusation in writing. ii. Upon receipt of the written accusation, the Coordinator or OSA shall issue a show cause notice informing the student-respondent/s of the nature and cause of accusation and shall require him/her/them to answer the accusation in writing within 5 days from receipt thereof, with the assistance of counsel if desired. If the student is a minor, the parent or guardian shall be furnished with a copy of the show cause notice. The student-respondent/s shall be
informed
of the evidence
against
him/her/them
and
he/she/they
shall have the right to adduce evidence on his/her/their behalf. iii. Upon receipt of the answer or should the student fail to submit his/her/their answer within the given period, the SWDC or OSA shall set the case for hearing/conference to clarify the facts and/or to give
the student another opportunity to be heard. iv. Thereupon, the SWDC
shall consider the evidence, write the facts
and issue a resolution. The said resolution shall be approved by the Dean/Director and Regent. The approved resolution shall be final and executory unless stayed by OSA within 10 days from date of
promulgation. v. For case/s cognizable by OSA, the panel shall likewise consider the evidence, write the facts and issue a resolution. The said resolution shall be : approved by the Director and Assistant Director of OSA. The approved resolution shall be finala nd executory unless stayed bythe Office of the Rector within 10 days from date of promulgation.

Committee Description The UST CSC Grievance and Student Welfare Committee is the sole committee of the UST Central Student Council to
