Team work, Individual illustration. 2017/11 - 2019/06 The ROMF is a crucial part of the GoTriangle, a light-rail construction that started about 40 years ago, which aims to connect Chapel Hill, Durham and Orange counties. It was restored in 2012, covering a total of 18 stations. ROMF, short for railway operation maintenance facility is at the end of the light rail, providing repair and maintenance for all the trains. I worked on both the line wide identity design for the stations and for ROMF in design development and construction document phases.

It provides Office space for District 9/10/11 in the Bronx and Garage space for large vehicles like garbage collecting trucks, snow trucks, plow rack storage and so on. An overall strategy to address the out of date current offices on site is also part of the scope. By providing architectural/planning insights into the phasing and swing space arrangement, our team came up with the best strategy and carried out the schematic design for DSNY.

An overall strategy to demolish the out-of-date current office on site and accommodate the staff while constructing the new facility is part of the scope. By providing architectural/planning insights into the phasing and swing space arrangement, our team came up with a scoring system featuring key factors like timeline, costs, demolition mobilization, etc, to articulate performances of different strategies. The client went with the option with the highest score. Our team later developed schematic design through massing studies and algorithms accordingly.

Once in history, because of their spontaneity, markets were able to respond over time to diversed needs of neighbouring area in a lowcost way. They thus helped to achieve an equilibrium between supply and demand in this district. Markets had acted as job opportunities for residents, trading center for local peoole, and supplements for daily needs. Now that one part (water transportation) of the cycle dies away, the whole mechanism annuls.

Hongkougang district used to thrive as part of waterway transportation where boats unload goods, sailors got onshore and local peddlers gathered for a temporary market. They provide food and household crafts for people, covering basic needs in a autonomous way. However, the role conversion in the last century (branches no longer serve as transportation), has deserted this area. We try to bing it back to life through re-introduction of markets.

the acoustical field generated by the piano in the basement
The Acoustical Environment
Acoustical Environment On the minus first floor, there is the piano for whoever to play. So, when a person is giving a performance or doing any practice, the sound will reverberate in the space, despite the merits of beautiful background tunes, people who stay on the first floor will always suffer the great noise because there were not any intervention or protection for that lounge area. The solution is to consider the acoustical effects from the piano.

Besides the acoustical reason, there is another reason why this place is not preferred: it was too open, and people could be easily observed when others passed by. Therefore, this apparatus should not only give a good auditory atmosphere for the people staying here, but also shield the user from being directly watched by passengers. And by using the methods we discussed before can reach a multisensory embrace ambience for every user so that this place will be able to provide a sought-after spot for activities.

Skeleton Algorithm: bring in Rhino-Vault to calculate force distribution, the most desirable generation.
Main Structure
The perforated panel interface has the visual transparency but increases the performance of sound absorption which contributes to the acoustical transparency. in the meantime, the absorbing material interface has the acoustical effects but produces a second layer of visual effect which adds to the transparency of light. In the pattern, the relations between panels and materials are intertwined which refers to the word “Chiasma- from Merleau Ponty’s The Visible and the Invisible. After the establishment of this apparatus, people including teachers and students and even kids live around Tongji University come to join the space under the canopy, and the activities are diversified and no longer confined to sitting and waiting. For instance, people have a nap or discuss their class project carrying their computers. Anyway, people stay for remarkably longer period than before.

03 | JUSTICE IN GREY
Competition "Archasm", Liberty Museum The design is intent to establish both intrinsical and physical discourse with the old landmark. Intrinsically, the museum has to take in the existing landscape of the surroundings on this small island, where the engagement among the visitors may well expand to that surrounding with all people on the island and whatever events that the island may hold. Physically, the higher one goes, the finer concrete one will see and touch. With each turn, the rotation converts itself into the pedestal of the statue, marking the museum as a 21st century symbol of liberty truth without the presence of any figure.

Designing and making of a book Monograph, Individual Work Critics: Ada Tolla, Giuseppe Lignano, (Lot-ek) Thomas de Monchaux
The Design of a Coffee Shop Since architecture is a container for users, most of whom couldn’t care less about the building itself, the huge gap between the different perspectives of designers and users is long doomed. This has made the readings of architecture very volatile. It could be either lines on a paper, or stories in temporal life, which, architects delivered uncousciously. We have been deprived of the a nonbiased view, because of our lazy reliance on definition of words, a fixed expectation of space or even the traditional ways of drawings. That said, my architecture is a tug b et wee n the tra dit io n al way o f perceiving architectural design and
