For the better part of two seasons Coach Walker has been an im portant member of our College community. Although very much less in evidence in the daily school routine than most members of the faculty. from his first appearance he, without conscious effort, won anu kept possession of the heart of every A. C. student. Nor was this conquest by any means due entirely to the popularity and fascination of his line of work. It was due far more to the p ersonal qualities of the man . \,1 r. Walker p ossesses the qui et but irresistible fascination of the p ~ rfect gentleman , the manly man without vices. Retiring, almost taciturn, in disposition, he did not win his universal popularity among t he Student Body , in partictilar the athletes, by flashi ng , brilliant talk or soc ia l graces. It was achieved by sheer force of lofty character and n oble ideals. always sure to command respect, especially wh en found in con nection with such magnetism of personality as in Coach \Valker 's case . That the stud ents appreciated the unu sual excellence of Mr. Walker 's character , and ,"vere sensible at the loss the institution sustains by hi s leaving, was graphically shown by the farewell reception tendered him in the College Library, Wednesday afternoon, November 2;). The reception was arranged by the officers of the Student Body .-\ssoc iation, and consisted of a short program followed by inform a l chat.

All spoke earnestly a nd em p hatically of Mr. W a lke r's work in ra ising t he standard of honesty in ath letics, of his mo ral integrity, of his high ideals, a nd of hi s fideli ty in frien ds hi p. All exp ressed t he universal feeling of profound regret at his depart ure a nd wished him success a n d God-speed in his fut ure career. Cap tain Brossard , on beha lf of t he stude nts, presen ted t he Coach wit h a large A . C. D . ba nner wit h his na m e a nd t he years of his service a s Director of At hletics, in white lett ers . Mr "\iVa lke r was d eeply m oved by t hese expressions of friendship a n d a pp reciat ion . H e gave a short resp onse full of feeling, t ellin g h ow , alm ost against hi s expectations, he h ad becom e deep ly attac hed to t he A . C. D., a n d assurin g t he stu de n ts th at no one wou ld be m ore elated at a n y A. C. D . v icto ry in athletics t ha n ou r former Coac h. Mr. W alker has gone to en ter th e Law School of t he Unive rsity of Chicago.
