From the giddiness of On the Town to the heartbreak of West Side Story, Leonard Bernstein’s genius is as much alive on the Broadway stage as it is in the concert hall. Conductor Teddy Abrams and Broadway star Morgan James (Motown: The Musical, Godspell, The Addams Family) join in the Utah Symphony’s homage to this quintessentially American composer. Don’t miss this concert featuring Bernstein’s greatest hits from Broadway in celebration of his 100th birthday.
What better way to round off the celebrations of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th anniversary year than with his satirical, hilarious, and touching comic operetta, Candide! Produced in collaboration with Utah Opera, an impressive cast of vocalists joined by the Utah Opera Chorus tells the story of a young man’s journey from innocence to worldliness, from Europe to South America, in love and in death, and finally to a life of contentment and peace. Bernstein’s brilliant score includes such musical favorites as “Glitter and be gay” and “Make our garden grow.” You won’t want to miss this event of the season!
Portland’s favorite “little orchestra” joins the Utah Symphony in Abravanel Hall for a holiday celebration that features multi-cultural holiday songs from the band’s best-selling album Joy To The World alongside classic Pink Martini favorites.
