Keith Lockhart, conductor Alban Gerhardt, cello Dvorˇák Concerto for Violoncello Strauss Ein Heldenleben Strauss earned a reputation for egotism with his tone poem Ein Heldenleben the title of which translates to “A Hero’s Life.” The piece is a richly autobiographical of the composer’s life and travails. Keith’s Finale

By Gaetano Donizetti Susanne Sheston, conductor Robert Herriot, director Don Pasquale is the story of an elderly, wealthy, (and miserly) bachelor who has no heir. To remedy the situation, he tries to persuade his young nephew Ernesto to accept an arranged marriage. After a bewildering chain of events involving a little fraud and some bogus legal proceedings, the story ends well with true love conquering all. Fri/Sat/Sun $83, $72, $62, $53, $48, $43, $30, $15 Mon/Wed $83, $64, $55, $48, $42, $36, $23, $13 Sung in Italian with English supertitles

Every season Utah Symphony | Utah Opera presents a festival that bridges all forms of artistic expression, providing an opportunity to expand and explore how each helps to define the human experience. This season our theme, A Toast to Vienna, is centered on Utah Opera’s production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Utah Symphony’s An Evening in Vienna on March 6-7, and the Viennese Waltz in our March 20-21 performance. We’re collaborating with local museums, art galleries, libraries, film centers, performing arts groups, and scholars to explore the lively world of Vienna. This is one festival you won’t want to miss. Visit usuo.org/festival for details.
