EVERY VOICE TELLS A STORY

Dear friend of Utah Opera, for the past 40 years, the Utah community has championed Utah Opera and founder Glade Peterson’s vision to bring exquisite, live opera to the residents of this great state. This generous support has allowed Utah Opera to share powerful stories that inspire and touch the lives of thousands of people—both young and old– who come together to celebrate the perfect blend of art and music. As we look forward to our future, I’m excited about where Utah Opera is headed. The entire organization is energized by the amazing opportunities we have to bring opera to our community. Our 40th Anniversary season is an exciting one, complete with cherished favorites by Puccini, Leoncavallo, and Johann Strauss Jr., as well as a new, thrilling production of Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer's Moby-Dick, one of the 21st century's most successful operas. It is truly a season you won’t want to miss. The rich heritage of artistic excellence lives on in a fascinating season that I invite you to share with us. Join us as we rejoice in the classics of the past and create excitement and energy for the future.

enjoy a sensational double-bill performance featuring some of the most beloved music in all of opera. The performance begins with Pagliacci, Leoncavallo’s emotionally intense masterpiece of passion, infidelity, and murder with the famous aria “Vesti la giubba,” sung by the clown Canio—a signature role of Utah Opera’s founder Glade Peterson. Next, heartbreak turns into laughter as Utah Opera explores the lighter side of Puccini with Gianni Schicchi. See what unfolds when a man of great wealth dies and leaves behind a secret will, a gang of scheming heirs, and a hilarious mess. Watch, listen, and laugh as you find comedy in the chaos.
