CRIME SCENE TECHNICIAN

CRIME SCENE TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE

This program will provide an introduction into the field of criminalistics and forensic investigations. Topics include the application of scientific and technical methods in the investigation of crime scenes, including location, identification, and handling of evidence for scientific analysis.

The course will include theory and practice of crime scene management and investigations. Other topics will include report writing, blood and other bodily fluids, document examinations, sketchings, casts and molds, glass fractures, use of the microscope, firearms identification plus other topics. A study of the practical aspects of criminalistic procedures will include areas of skill development in properly interviewing witnesses, victims, and suspects, notetaking, report writing, photographing, and testifying in court in the criminal justice context.

Participants will learn the historical view of the science of fingerprints and their recovery, plus recovery of foot and tire impression, blood spatter identification, biological and trace evidence identification, and crime scene safety. Participants will also learn about DNA collection, preservation, packaging and storage, and the significance of chain-of-custody to ensure proper preparation and delivery of evidence from crime scene to lab analysis and preparation for a court room trial.

Come see what engineers and computer scientists do to make the world a better place!  Come join us for the Engineering and Computer Science Summer Camp at UT Arlington College of Engineering and get introduced to some of the most interesting engineering anywhere.

This one-week day camp will introduce middle school students to the field of engineering by showing how engineering serves our community, our world, and each other. Campers will do projects, visit engineering work, and learn how different types of engineering help to make the world better!

Ready to make a difference in your community? Join the DFW Future Leaders camp, where you’ll gain the tools to tackle real-world challenges! Over the course of this dynamic week-long program, you’ll learn from inspiring community leaders across the Metroplex as they share their approaches to solving complex problems. Together with fellow participants, you’ll plan, design, and host a community leadership event, showcasing your skills in assessment, critical thinking, and collaboration. This camp provides hands-on experience, access to regional city leaders, and insights into civic leadership roles to help you explore and ignite your passion for leadership.

The University of Texas at Arlington reserves the right to change or cancel any class. In the event that a class must be changed or canceled, you will be notified by email and/or phone. You are required to provide a valid email address and phone number to ensure notification. Cancellations due to insufficient enrollment will be made approximately one (1) to two (2) business days prior to the class start date. Participant withdrawals from a course may result in a processing fee. If a course is canceled by UTA, participants have the option to transfer to another course, hold their funds in escrow, or receive a refund. No fees will be charged for these transactions if UTA cancels a class.
