¢ The UT track & field team will join more than 100 universities and colleges spanning both the nation and the globe at The Armory this weekend, as the Vols and Lady Vols head to New York City for the 12th edition of the Armory Collegiate Invitational. ¢ Many of the nation’s most successful programs will take the ‘A’ train uptown for the nation’s biggest and best indoor college meet excluding the NCAA Championships. Joining the Big Orange are Arkansas, Florida, Texas A&M, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Oregon, Texas, BYU, Stanford, Oklahoma, Clemson, Kansas, Iowa State, Dartmouth, Connecticut and many more. ¢ In addition to those standout programs, colleges from Canada and France will join in on the event, which is contested at the New Balance Track Center inside The Armory. ¢ Action is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. ET on Friday, and continue throughout the day. A full day of events is also slated to begin on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. A total of 28 Vols and 23 Lady Vols will make the trip.

¢ UT collected five victories and seven runner-up finishes, while also providing 38 other point-producing performances at the annual Texas A&M Mondo Challenge last week to help the SEC prevail over the Big 12 and Pac-12. UT joined forced with Texas A&M to represent the league, which combined for 317 points on the men’s side and 324 points in the women’s competition. ¢ Rookie pole vaulter Jacob Blankenship highlighted the action for the Vols, posting a first-place finish in the event while setting a Mondo Challenge meet record (17-4.25). The Vols also picked up a title in the men’s shot put, as Tavis Bailey joined the 60foot club with a push of 60-0 1/4. ¢ On the oval, Vols Austin Whitelaw and Peter Okwera went 1-2 in the men’s 3000m, crossing the line in 8:20.45 and 8:20.60, respectively. ¢ After a second-place finish in the DMR on Friday night, the Lady Vols went 1-2-4 in the mile as Alexis Panisse, Kelsey Kane and Amirah Johnson all went under five minutes. Panisse won the event in 4:53.49. ¢ A week after setting the school record in the event, pole vaulter Linda Hadfield placed second at the Mondo Challenge with a vault of 13-2 1/4, a mark that is tied for second in UT’s indoor record book.

¢ Former Lady Vol Chanelle Price reeled-off an NCAA automatic-qualifying time of 2:04.25 in the championship division of the 800m to highlight UT’s trip at last season’s New Balance Collegiate Invitational. The Lady Vols also got second-place finishes from alums Brittney Sheffey in the mile (4:40.28) and Annie Alexander in the shot put (55-10.50). ¢ For the Vols, returnee Jamol James crossed the line in fifth place in the consolation final of the men’s 60m with a then-personal-best time of 6.74 seconds. Then-freshman thrower Matthew Hoty landed multiple throws in the vicinity of 60 feet in the men’s shot put, finishing fifth in event with an effort of 59-9.
