HALL NAMED SEC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK
Senior back Ali Hall won her first SEC Defensive Player of the Week honor after helping UT shut down South Carolina and Auburn on the road last weekend. The Tennessee defense was stout last week containing the Gamecocks’ and the Tigers’ top scorers as UT picked up its eighth and ninth shutouts of the year.

In this week’s NCAA RPI rankings, Tennessee climbed four spots to No. 14. UT finished the 2011 season with an RPI of 33. Kentucky’s RPI is currently 45. LSU’s RPI is 65.

UT has dominated the second half of games, outscoring opponents 12-2 in the second period. The Lady Vols’ offensive pressure goes up in the second half.

Tennessee’s defense has been nothing short of outstanding in recent weeks. The Lady Vols rank fifth in the nation in scoring defense with a conference-best 0.446 goals-against average. UT now has nine shutouts on the season (8-0-1 in those games).
