» Junior outside hitter Kelsey Robinson is 52 kills away from joining the 1,000-kill club. Currently, 17 former Lady Vols have reached the mark.
LADY VOL NOTES DEFENDING THE SEC TITLE ¢ Tennessee finished the 2011 campaign with a 19-1 record in the SEC, winning its first outright league title in program history. With all starters returning, including the defending SEC Player and Freshman of the Year, UT was voted by the league’s coaches to unanimously repeat as conference champions in 2012. ¢ The Lady Vols are seeking back-to-back SEC Championships, which they accomplished in 1981-82, and their seventh combined league title. In addition to 1981-82 and last season, UT won the 1984 and 2004 championship. The Orange & White also took home the 2004 SEC Tournament Title.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT ¢ The Lady Vols finished week one of their 2012 SEC slate with a 1-1 record after falling to Mizzou on Wednesday and topping Alabama on Sunday afternoon. ¢ After losing the opening frame, 25-19, UT rallied to defeat ’Bama in four sets to pick up a crucial road win. Junior outside hitter Kelsey Robinson led the charge, tallying 20 kills and 14 digs. Tennessee welcomed back Shealyn Kolosky in a big way, as she notched a matchhigh eight blocks. Redshirt freshman Mercedes Vaughn added a career-best nine kills and sophomore setter Mary Pollmiller picked up her fourth double-double of the season with a match-high 46 assists and 12 digs.

¢ The Orange & White dominated the opening two sets at Missouri, 25-20 and 25-14 and was within two points of clinching the match in the third set, but the Tigers stormed back in their first SEC match to best the Lady Vols in five sets. Mizzou won the final three sets, 27-25, 25-21 and 15-9, respectively. ¢ UT achieved season highs in kills (72), assists (70) and digs (89), outperforming Mizzou in all three categories. ¢ Despite its three losses, UT has actually held the advantage in kills, assists, aces and points in all 11 matches this season. ¢ Robinson garnered her fourth career 20-20 match with 23 kills and 24 digs at Mizzou. It was the second time she reached the 20-20 plateau this season. ¢ Pollmiller dished out a season-high 66 assists against the Tigers, just three shy of her career-best mark of 69. Her classmate Tiffany Baker added 18 kills, including eight in the first set, while seniors DeeDee Harrison and Leslie Cikra each tallied 11 kills. Ellen Mullins added 17 digs and sophomore Nikki Brice scooped a career-best 15 balls.
20/20 VISION ¢ On Wednesday at Mizzou, Robinson recorded 23 kills and 24 digs, marking the fourth 20/20 match of her career. While it’s not an official stat, it’s certainly a rare feat in the UT record books. ¢ Since 2001, six different players have reached the 20 mark in two stat categories in a single match on just
