was bubbling with enthusiasm in September 1925 when I came to Woodruff, Utah, to teach school. It was the beginning of some very thrilling and exciting years for me. I was twenty years old, and had a lot of energy for the challenges that I had to face. The first year in Woodruff I had forty students in my room, which was quite evenly divided between fifth and sixth grade. The classrooms were very large, and I especially liked that because it provided opportunities for many activities that we all enjoyed. The school house had been built by the pioneers in 1886, of bricks made in the local brick yard. It consisted of two large spacious classrooms on the first level, and one large room upstairs that was used for both a classroom and an assembly room. There was also a smaller classroom, and a principal's ofice. The basement consisted of one large room where the children could play on stormy days.
