ORGANIZATION SPOTLIGHT
D
elta Kappa Alpha is a national, professional, cinematic arts fraternity dedicated to developing cinematic artists of character. As of 2017, UT's Lambda Chapter is a professional cinematic society. DKA defines a professional society as a group of students that concentrate on developing their careers and interests in the cinematic arts while upholding the organization's ten core values, also referred to as the ten jewels of a DKA member. DKA members are consistently producing films, many of which have been featured in a series of film festivals. Additionally, through the Lambda Chapter of DKA's production company, DKA Studios, Texas, members can receive funding for their films through a series of grants. DKA Studios Texas currently has nine films in production and two going through the festival circuit. DKA has recruitment in both the fall and spring semesters and is open to all students from all majors. http://texasdka.org Instagram: @texasdka

STUDENTS OF MOODY “I chose Moody because it seemed like the most diverse place for me to be at. Its career paths aren’t boxed in. There are so many different careers that we could pursue thanks to the college of communications. It is different from all of the other colleges because of all of the opportunities that are given to us. Moody gives us the most opportunities to branch out and find a potential career while still in school. Moody was my first pick because it seemed the most fun for me, it has the tools for me to succeed, with fun classes and a great staff that is always ready to help its students. We don’t struggle to find help. It is always offered.” -Laura Corona, Corporate Communication freshman
“I chose Moody because it fit my major and was just a great community of people who helped each other achieve their goals. I am here because of my extracurricular activities involving my major. Moody has really helped me reach my goals. One person who has impacted my time here so far has been Doctor Czimskey. She has really helped me understand what speech pathology is. She really is a big influence on my life and major.” -Peyton Donovan, Communication Sciences and Disorders

“I chose the Moody College of Communication for a few reasons. One, both my Mom and Grandfather went here, and coming to the 40 acres is a tradition. Two, it has a great speech pathology program. The amount I have learned in the past semester alone has changed not only how I evaluate situations, but also how I view the world of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Third, and finally, the Moody College of Communication has a plethora of research opportunities. I informed one professor that I was interested in an internship/research event over the summer, and she specifically went out of her way to write me a few recommendations she had.” -Michael Miller, Communication Sciences and Disorders freshman
“Getting a degree from Moody College of Communication, one of the best communication schools in the world, obviously speaks volumes to my education. On top of that, it’s how much I’ve grown in the major that I’m in. The courses I’ve taken in Communication and Leadership have helped shape and refine my skills in leadership, encouraging me to run for Student Body President this year and overall, leaving a lasting impact.” -Sean Tucker, Communication and Leadership senior 6
