COMMUNICATION CAREER SERVICES (CCS) One of the most valuable services available to you as a Moody student is Communication Career Services, or CCS. Your key to success will be your ability to combine the academic coursework to jobs, internships, student organization involvement, and other extracurricular activities. Through CCS recruiting events (like job and internship fairs), advising sessions, career exploration, and online services, we help you connect the dots between where you are now and where you want to be when you graduate. CCS won't get you a job, but we will help you understand your career options, prepare your resume and cover letters, develop your professional networking and interviewing skills, and connect with employers regarding internships and jobs. Connect with CCS early and stay involved throughout your academic career. Then, you'll be on track to get a job (or go to graduate school) after your undergraduate years.

I am a senior Advertising and Corporate Communication major headed from India! As President, apart from overseeing all internal aspects of council, I act as the liaison between Council and the Moody Administration and represent the Moody student body in conversations dedicated to improving the academic experiences of Moody students! Apart from that, when I’m not whiling away my time in the Student Leadership Suite in Belo, you will find me obsessing over random Bollywood movies, fiction books, and Halal Bros. If you catch me in the hallway, don’t forget to say hi!

VICE PRESIDENT

Janvi Shah

As VP of Comm. Council, it is my job to oversee the 7 committees that allow CC to serve our wonderful college and its students! Don’t get me wrong, I do a lot of work, but I’m mostly here to support CC’s devoted chairs that work so hard to make our council outward-facing and accessible to all of Moody’s students! A little bit about me - I am an Aquarius to a TEE, would eat sushi for every meal if I could and love visiting Austin’s coffee shops. Lastly, I want to welcome all of our new students to Moody, we are so glad to have you!

FINANCIAL DIRECTOR

Jordan Ludzenski

junior- political communication

I am thrilled to be working as this year’s Administrative Director! I will be responsible for making sure all members are active and happy within council as well as making sure internal processes run smoothly. I can’t wait to spend this year working with council (and eating as much queso as I can) during my last year at UT.

Hi, I’m Jordan and I’m so excited to serve as Communication Council’s Financial Director this year! I’m currently a third-year Policom student and I plan on applying to law school. As Financial Director I’m looking forward to overseeing our process of allocating funds to other organizations on campus that need it. Outside of council you can find me playing the piano, talking about politics, eating Thai food, or jammin’ to Fleetwood Mac!

There’s something about people that excites me. Looking forward to seeing a friend, going out with a big group, or having a personal one-on-one conversation… Communication Council was the first place on UT’s campus where I actually found my “people,” and I am thrilled to keep that family spirit alive as next year’s Internal Director. However, I still love cats more than people. Let’s grab a coffee sometime and talk about it.

I am a 4th-year Communication and Leadership major, and I am super excited to be the 2019-2020 External Director of the Communication Council. I will not only be responsible for Comm Council’s external relationships with other Moody orgs and Senate Council but service events for council members and Moody students as well. All you have to know about me is that I always wear hoops, I buy coffee like twice a day and I LOVE R&B. I am so excited for my last year at UT and am honored that I get to share it with all of you!

INTERNAL DIRECTOR

Kellie Woodin

junior- advertising business minor

Hi! My name is Natalie and I am a Co-Director for Diversity and Inclusion for Communication Council this academic year. I’m super excited to see where my awesome Co-director and I can take this position this coming year. You can usually find me sitting in the Student Leadership Suite in Belo talking with people about council, class and other random topics. When I’m not doing council things you can find me drinking my fourth cup of coffee for the day, ordering a fried egg sandwich at Dirty Martin’s, or hanging with my cat, Tinker. I can’t wait for this next year and I’m very excited for what is to come. If you have any questions or want a new friend feel free to come up to me if you see me around— I would love to talk with you! Have a great year and Hook ‘Em!

Hiya! My name is Rebecca and I’m a 4th year Advertising major, Business and Comp Sci minor. I’m so incredibly excited to be serving as one of this year’s Diversity and Inclusion Directors. I’ve always been a firm believer that everyone gets an equal seat at the table and I look forward to helping everyone - not only in CC but also in Moody - have their voices heard! I have a love for fashion, art, degenerate memes, and of course the PCL. I’m always down for a good conversation so don’t be a stranger and say hi!

POLICY

Catherine Mouer

12 sophomore- political communication

Hey, I’m Cat! I’m a sophomore Political Communications major and the Policy Chair! That means that I lead the Policy Committee (and all of CC) in identifying issues on campus, meeting with relevant administrative officials, and writing policies to be implemented on campus. I also act as the liaison between the Senate of College Councils and Communication Council. Besides politics, I also really love music (and concerts), freaking out about dogs and volunteering at local animal shelters, and antiquing. I can’t wait to get to know y’all soon!

As SIAC chair, I work to improve student’s college experience in Moody. Biannually, we conduct a college climate survey and present the results to the Deans. In between survey years, we work to implement change by working on concerns raised in previous year’s surveys. Outside of Moody, you can find me eating at CAVA across the street, at Zilker with friends, and scrolling through the depths of Twitter. I have a passion for working with others to create change and am looking forward to this year!

Hey! My name is Christian, and I will be planning Moody events this year for Comm Council. As an Aquarius sun and Taurus moon, I will make it my utmost priority to feature events that are different and peak student interest, but that are also meaningful and purposeful. I am so excited to work with my committee to create amazing events, with hopefully some amazing food. Personally, I enjoy studying black theory, arguing, climbing things, being lactose intolerant, and house music. Make sure to come say hi to me, I love attention!

Hey, I’m Alex! I can typically be found playing soccer, overthinking every tiny decision, or working at Target. A typical Pisces, I adore reading poetry and I love discussing any and all feelings or philosophical ponderings. I’m constantly laughing so please tell me all of your terrible (or actually decent) jokes. As the Career and Alumni Relations Chair, I’m so excited to help Moody students gain more insight into where their degrees can take them and how to use the skills they’ve gained to get there. The world outside of UT can be a scary place and it’s my goal to make sure Moody students feel more prepared to venture beyond the 40 Acres by hearing from alumni and professionals who have achieved it themselves.

Alex Allen

sophomore- communication & leadership and plan II

I’m a junior CSD major born and raised in this amazing city. I’ve grown up going to every UT home game for almost every sport, and I try and still go to most now. I love showing people around the city and trying new restaurants. Some of my hobbies include paddleboarding on lake Austin, cleaning my apartment, and listening to country music that most of you hate. I joined CC the spring semester of my sophomore year, after 2 long years of telling Kennedy no. I’m so glad I finally caved and joined the CC family. I’m excited to bring new life to fun events like Morning Munchies and Donuts with the Deans. I will also be focused on expanding our amazing org more to other Moody orgs and students to help everyone in Moody!

Hey! I’m Emma, a second-year journalism and communication & leadership major (with a creative writing certificate), and I am SO excited to be this year's Magazine Chair!! Besides being an avid rom-com watcher and Friends fanatic, you’ll almost always find me with a coffee in hand working on something in the Student Leadership Suite. I can’t wait to start working on this semester’s edition of Moody Magazine and our monthly newsletter, Moody News. Com Council is my home away from home and can’t wait to meet all of our new members. HMU if you want to go grab a cup of coffee or just need someone to talk to!

Hello, I am a second-year journalism and corporate communications major and I am SO excited to serve as this year’s Media Chair! In this position, I work with my committee to promote Moody and council events. This is done through our active website, social media, and video production. I almost always have a camera in hand, but if I have to stand on my tippy toes to take your picture- don’t judge me. I am an enthusiast of candles, alligators, my new kitten Archie, and all things music. If you have an event you’d like covered, please let me know!

LAST SEMESTER

SPOTLIGHT

Welcome Back! We Can’t Wait to See You Around Moody!

This last semester, students in the University of Texas’ Communication Council took to fundraising to start the first Moody-specific study abroad scholarship. Most of the fundraising for the scholarship took place from Feb. 6 to March 8 and during 40 Hours for the Forty Acres fundraising event. During the initial fundraising period, Communication Council student ambassadors were tasked with raising $5,000 to cover the basic costs of a UT study abroad program, including the application fee, medical and insurance fees, airfare and more. $7,236 was raised in total. Just recently, more funding was secured to reach the $25,000 endowment needed to make the scholarship a permanent fixture for Moody students. Information on the funding sources will be available in the fall. Currently, paperwork is being filed and sent for the endowment to be approved by the Board of Regents, with the board’s next approval meeting being in September. The Communication Council Study Abroad Scholarship is an entirely student-led initiative that aims to eliminate financial barriers for low-income students and make it possible for all students to study abroad. “We want all students to be able to experience studying abroad and this scholarship is our way of helping students who might not otherwise be able to afford it have that experience,” said Lydia Medhanie, one of the Co-Directors of Diversity and Inclusion for Communication Council. Communication Council students who studied abroad gave testimonies to speak to the value of their experience abroad and encourage donations. Communication Council will continue to work to raise $25,000 in five years so that the scholarship becomes a permanent fixture for Moody students.
