61 YEARS OF COMBINED SERVICE TO TEXAS WESTERN COLLEGE ..... have marked the careers of Dr. and Mrs. Howard E. Quinn. Dr. Quinn joined the College staff in 1924 and Miss Mary Kelly, now Mrs. Quinn, became a member of the faculty in 1925. When they arrived at TWC, they found an institution of only five buildings, Old Main, Burgess Hall, Chemistry Building, Power House, and Kelly Hall. Their continuous devotion to duty and unfaltering loyalty have contributed greatly to the steady growth of Texas Western College. As chairman of the Department of Geology Dr. Quinn has seen TWC become recognized as one of the ranking geological training centers in the United States. Through Mrs. Quinn's efforts courses in sociology were developed at the College proving very popular and most practical to the students . . . . . . In the classroom, on field trips, and in everyday contacts with students and faculty, they have earned the respect of everyone. It is with a great deal of admiration and appreciation that we dedicate this volume of The Flowsheet to Dr. and Mrs. Howard E. Quinn.

Dear Mr. Williams, Making the selection for the Flowsheet was a pleasant but difficult assignment. All the girls are so pretty that each entry deserved to win. After much pondering we selected these five girls, fourteen, twenty-three, thirteen, sixty-six, four in that order. We made the selection 'of these five above the others only because we had to designate five. Congratulations to everybody and thanks, again, for a very enjoyable job. Sincerely, Eddie Fisher

The Reserve Officers' Training Corps is devoted to the training of students in military affairs so that Texas Western graduates can assume their rightful positions of responsibility in times of national emergency. All members of the Corps are observed and rated continuously to determine their fitness to wear the bars of a Second Lieutenant in the United States Alroy upon graduation.
The Officer Corps is the heart and soul of any military organization. It must be the reservoir of character and integrity, the fountainhead of professional competence, and the dynamo of leadership. The Army and the people of the United States will expect of everyone of our officers, his full devotion to Duty, Honor, and Country. M. B. RIDGWAY General, United States Army, Chief of Staff.

CONSERVATION The greatest part of the gas carried to market by El Paso Natural Gas Company is "flare" gas which would' necessarily be burned at the field were it not for the pipelines. The waste gas thus converted to useful purposes each year is equivalent in fuel value to 60.000.000barrels of
