In "Miner" tradition, we call the Texas Western College annual Flowsheet tory of student life step by step through all phases of college activity.

From the rush of registration and beginning classes, football games and fraternity pledging in the first days of school, to the final exams and at last, graduation, the Flowsheet follows the student. The dances, friends, the big game, the parade, all the traditions and memories of college life are recorded in pictures and copy, for the student to look back on in days ahead, in the Flowsheet.

To the Editors

and Staff of the F'Iowahee t of 1960

I write to wish you well in your labors in preparing the new Floweheet. Few of us can realize the planning, the imagination, the long bours of hard work that go into one of the most significant recorda of an academic year at Texas Western. I am sure you will succeed in capturing the spirit of the campus and thereby ensure a constant source of pleasure and happy memories for all who are here this year. The Flowsheet invariably provides an important link between our ex-students and the College and we shall continue to be in your debt for your efforts. With all good wi sbe e , Sincerely your e ,

T. W. C. Vs. MEXICO U. Texas Western Miners put on an offensive and a defensive display as they rolled to a 43.8 victory over the Pumas of the University of Mexico. Scoring in every quarter, the Miners made use of long passes, long runs and long drives for their points and so completely dominated the play that in the third period the Pumas did not have a single play from scrimmage.

TWC poured it on in one of their fastest paced games, to defeat ENMU for their fifth win of the season. The Miners showed a tremendous speed and scoring touch on the floor as they played one of their high. est-scored games of the season. At left, AI Tolen (I I) goes up in a battle for a rebound in the ENMU game. Tolen got the rebound and went on to rack up 31 points for a new individual high count for the season. Five other Miners hit in the double fig. ures: Don Burgess with II points, John Corcoran and Bob Davis with 13 points each, and Don Vollintine with 10 points.

In the Miners' opening game of their home season, they passed to the Aggies who picked up the Miners at the mid-court and took advantage of some bad TWC passes to press their defense home. The Aggies outshot and outplayed the Miners in the first half, but the Miners rallied in the second half and did far better as they tightened up their defense and changed the pattern of play. The second half score was 29-25, Aggies leading. The Miners hit five shots in the field in the first half, and six shots in the second. and twice stole the ball from the Aggies. Bob Davis led the Miners' scoring men with 14 points, and AI Tolen came up from the field to collect free throws to total 12 points.

V5. ABILENE CHRISTIAN

It was a touch.and路go game all the way as the Miners finally tipped over Abilene Christian in over-time to get their victory. AI Tolen and Benny Carver, guards, headed the Miners in sinking their shots. With just one minute and 21 seconds remaining, and after having fought back from a 1Q-point deficit, Tolen's layup tied the game for the Miners. Carver twice stole the ball in the over-time session to guide the TWC defense. Tolen racked up 23 points to lead on the Miner scoring board. Bob Davis scored high with 19 points and Don Vollintine came up close with 14 points.

This year for the first time, Intramural Competition was sponsored by the Physical Education Department. Because of legislation which abolished appropriations for such activity, and in keeping with the principles of physical education, the department was more than willing to take on the responsibility. We have the Men's Council and the Women' Council to thank for the program that was provided and the guidance of the respective directors.

This is the type of action that was prevalent during Intramural competition. Competition was clean, hard, and a credit to each organization represented. It was open to the public and those who witnessed the games were provided with a treat.

What do you think? Did he or didn't he?

Let's see who can make the biggest splash!

THANK YOU We are happy to have been able to present to you this 1960 Flowsheet. It is our wish that the time spent by the staff members in preparing this annual has resulted in a book which will, in the future, renew the happy memories of our college days. We wish to thank the following people without whose help this book would not have been possible, To the staff for their diligent work these past eight months, to Mr. John Middagh for his guidance as our faculty sponsor and to Mr. Ralph Lowenstein and the Student Publications Division Photography Staff for their fine pictures. A special word of thanks to Mr. K. K. Kazin and the Fine Arts Studio for their patience in taking the student and faculty pictures, and Mateo Hinojosa for his special photography. To the Guarantee Shoe Co., Charlotte's, Maple Shop, Mrs. Roberta Walker, Mrs. Frances Steven, Charles Horky, Bobby Seevers, and John Wheatley for their co-operation and help to the staff members throughout the year.

Thank you,
