WELCOME LETTER 01/ FROM THE HEAD ORGINISER

Dear participants, It is our great pleasure to welcome you to Koç Forum’18! The conference will be held in our school, the Koç School, Istanbul from 1st to 4th March, 2018. In this letter we wish to send our greetings to all of you on behalf of the Koç School Organizers Team; and to inform you about the essentials of our conference. Under the theme of “Today’s innovations: Protecting the cultural values whilst keeping pace with the developing technologies” the conference will gather over a hundred participants from all over Turkey to discuss current European affairs, exchange ideas and create a vision for tomorrow’s Europe. Our intention was to prepare the finest environment for these students who will grow into the constituents of a better future. We hope it will be an amazing four days and we are sure that Koç Forum’18 will be an incredible opportunity to make new friends, to learn to respect different viewpoints, to discover new ways of working together as a group, and to find a middle ground on even the most difficult and complex of issues. As mentioned above, this document should also serve as a general guide for your preparation for the session. Thus, please read this information carefully. TRAVEL FORM DEADLINE 07/02/2018
The transportation of all participants travelling from other cities to and from their respective airports at the beginning and at the end of the session will be provided by the Koc Forum if they fill the Travel Form. Transportation to the school will be provided by us only from the recommended hotel (Hotel Miracle Asia Istanbul). In order for us to arrange your transportation accurately, we request that each delegation coming from other cities fills the Travel Form that has been sent to the Advisors. Please fill your Travel Form on google forms.(This is only for delegates who are travelling from other cities) For Advisors, transportation will be arranged according to the Advisors’ Programme by Koc Forum. Busses will be provided form the hotel to stated destinations. Departures of the buses are stated in the schedule.

March in Istanbul is relatively nice and warm, although there is always the possibility of random bursts of rain and temperatures below 10°C. The maximum average temperature for Istanbul during March 1st and March 4th is 12 °C, the minimum average temperature is 6°C. We therefore recommend that you dress accordingly.
01 March Teambuilding
Comfortable and warm clothes and shoes; and perhaps a rain jacket. Istanbul’s weather tends to fluctuate a lot so we recommend that you dress in layers.
02 March Opening Ceremony
Formal Wear: Shirts, suits, skirts and formal pants are recommended. Delegates will have time to change their clothes after the Opening Ceremony if they want to.

Smart Casual: Oxford defines it as “neat, conventional, yet relatively informal in style, especially as worn to conform to a particular dress code” Jeans and shirts that are appropriate for school can be a good option. for the case of KOCFORUM18”.

Formal Wear: Shirts, suits, skirts and formal pants are recommended. Men are required to wear jackets while speaking at the General Assembly.

FOUR DAYS OF EYP

March 1st Arrivals, Team-Building and Turcovillage:
We will be greeting you with a warm welcome, and soon after, team building session will begin. During this session, delegates from various cities all around Turkey will have the opportunity to get to know each other and take the first steps in creating close- knit teams. This session will be followed by Turcovillage. Delegations from various cities and parts of Turkey will offer various tastes. We will be requesting each delegation to bring food unique to its region or city. Delegations participating from schools in Istanbul, we are going to assign you some regions and request you to bring foods.
March 2nd Opening Ceremony, Commitee Work Euroconcert and Committee Dinners The day will begin with the Opening Ceremony, which will take place in the A.D. Hall in the Koรง School. This will mark the official start of the session.Following the Opening Ceremony, Panel Debate will take place where distinguished speakers will reflect their opinions on global issues. Panel Debate will also have a Q&A round, by which our curious delegates will have a chance to further enhance their knowledge. Committee Work will be a vital part of the session. During this day and the following day,the delegates of each committee will engage in discussions on their topics, aiming to write, as a complete team, a high quality resolution. This will be further followed by committee dinners, an opportunity to spend more time with your fellow delegates. Chairpersons will be accompanying the committees; and, together, you will be dining at traditional Turkish restaurants at Viaport. After Committee Dinners, a classic EYP ritual, Euroconcert will be held. Our request from participants who are keen to join Euroconcert is to bring their instruments with them. Be engaged, be creative, and be ready to party after an exhausting day of work.
March 3th Committee Work and General Assembly Preparation:
Committee Work will continue from the previous day and following committee work, the significant work of the day will begin, comprising the final preparation for the upcoming General Assembly. Each committee will be working on the presentations of their resolutions to defend and present deservedly in the General Assembly. At the end of this tiring day of work, the delegates will be transferred to their hotels

Assembly: March 4th
The General Assembly, which will be held at the Koรง School, will bring together all the participants of the session. During the General Assembly each committee will present and defend their resolutions, which will then be debated for approximately 45 minutes by the Assembly. Thus, delegates will have to be familiar not only with their own topic, but also with the ones of all the other committees.
