Terry Scholar Program® at UTSA
Funded by the Terry Foundation®, this competitive scholarship program is designed to help high achieving, motivated and community minded students develop themselves in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and community. Approximately 12 high school seniors are selected each year based on demonstrated leadership potential, academic strength and financial need.

Benefits
• First-time freshmen receive full funding for up to eight semesters to cover tuition, fees, books, housing and a meal plan (amount varies based on financial need)
• Additional funding up to $5,000 to support a study abroad experience
• On-campus living/learning experience in Honors Residential College
• Part of a community that participates in regular service projects
• Auto-enrollment into the Honors College

Eligibility
• Entering UTSA as a full-time first year student in the fall immediately following graduation from a Texas high school
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Be a Texas resident
• Be in top 25% of high school ranking
• Strong record of community volunteerism and leadership
• Demonstrate financial need
• Submission of SAT and ACT scores is optional
Terry Scholars® are distinguished by an established record of leadership and a deep-rooted desire to enrich the general welfare of the community. To select scholars with the greatest potential for success, the Terry Foundation® selection committees focus on candidates with a demonstrated history of involvement in activities, outstanding scholastic achievement and a well-rounded personality marked by a desire to succeed.
How to Apply
STEP 1
Apply to UTSA via ApplyTexas or CommonApp and submit all required admission documents, including the FAFSA. You will receive an email to authenticate your UTSA email account and receive your myUTSA ID once your application is processed into UTSA’s system.
STEP 2
Use your myUTSA ID and passphrase to log into the UTSA Scholarship Hub at onestop.utsa.edu/hub and complete the Terry Scholars program application by December 1.
Selection
A committee will review applications and submit a list of nominees to the Terry Foundation, which will then review the nominees and extend invitations for interviews. When interviews are complete, UTSA will receive a list of awarded scholars. Applicants are typically notified by May 1.
