usan Breau is an expert in international law, specializing in humanitarian law and the law of armed conflict. After earning her LLB at Queen’s University, she practiced family and criminal law in Kingston, Ontario for 18 years. She returned to Queen’s in 1986 to do a part-time Masters in International Politics, followed by an LLM and PhD from the London School of Economics. She taught international law in the United Kingdom for 18 years at Queen’s University Belfast, the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, the School of Law, University of Surrey, Flinders University, and as the head of the School of Law, University of Reading. I sat down with Susan to learn more about her background and what drives her.
