“Through the services of C&L, I was able to accomplish semester goals and work towards landing an internship related to my major. My C&L coordinator helped me create a resume and provided me with resources to search for internship opportunities. This ultimately led to upcoming interviews and networking opportunities with two organizations I am really interested in!”

CLINICAL SPORT PSYCHOLOGY
We are here to provide all studentathletes the opportunity to flourish through mental health and sport psychology services.
Our approach to serving student-athletes provides you the opportunity to choose an “in-house” athletic department psychologist or a campus or community provider that best fits your needs.
We focus on the overall well-being of all student-athletes. We understand that athletes are humans, and thus at times may feel overwhelmed by the demands of being a Badger student-athlete. Our staff listens, provides support, guidance, and psychological treatment. We help educate student-athletes on the use of relaxation, visualization, and breathing techniques to maximize their personal, academic, and athletic performance.
Below are a few common reasons student-athletes come to us. Please remember this list is not exhaustive — and we can, and will, help you work through whatever concerns you have.

Performance Nutrition
We strive to provide education, along with appropriate food and nutrition products, to help student-athletes maximize their performance potential and overall health.
Jack Link’s Protein Performance Centers at Camp Randall Stadium and the Kohl Center offer student-athletes: > Pre- and post-workout customized shakes > Grab-n-Go fueling for pre-, mid-, and post-workout needs > Nutrition education graphics and displays
Nutrition is key to performing your best before, during, and after competition. The performance nutrition team champions department-wide services and information for all student-athletes. We also support each student-athlete individually with personal evaluations and nutrition counseling.
The College Athletics Meal Plan (CAMP) app is one of many useful tools for finding participating restaurants, suggested menu items, meal calendars and more. The app also allows student-athletes to order customized recovery shakes throughout the day.
“The availability of the Grabn-Go snacks is great when having limited time between training and class because you know the healthy snacks selected will help prepare you to perform at your next session. Also, having the ability to work with the staff to develop a personalized nutrition plan is crucial for my teammates and I to compete at the highest level all season.”
- Z AC H K L A N C N I K , MEN’S SOCCER
“Every little thing matters to us on the Wisconsin volleyball team and we believe that nutrition is something that we can control and can help us reach our full potential. The performance nutrition program has helped us do that and we are very thankful for them.”
- S Y D N E Y H I L L E Y, VOLLEYBALL
In addition to fueling centers and the CAMP app, here are some of the ways our performance nutrition department supports student-athletes:

BADGER ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE
Our interdisciplinary sports performance program collaborates with a variety of specialists to maximize each studentathlete’s performance through the integration of science, training, and injury management. We implement a variety of physiologic and performance testing metrics to help guide injury prevention, performance enhancement, and return to sport following an injury.
THE MUELLER SPORTS MEDICINE CENTER
The Mueller Sports Medicine Center serves as our main facility that offers a variety of sports medicine services to studentathletes. The facility houses our orthopedic and primary care physician clinics, sports performance testing, rehabilitation space, recovery and therapy pools.
Strength Conditioning
Our primary purpose is to enhance the student-athlete experience, and help them achieve their potential as student-athletes and as people.
OUR TEAM IS SPREAD ACROSS FOUR FACILITIES IN ORDER TO WORK WITH STUDENT-ATHLETES IN ALL 23 VARSITY SPORTS: > Kohl Center > Camp Randall > McClain Center > Porter Boathouse
All student-athletes are involved in yearround strength and conditioning programs that use baseline performance data to guide and gauge progress.
> The Off-Season Program
Works to develop the total athlete and address the particular training needs of each sport.
> The In-Season Program
Focuses on management and maintenance of the improvements made during the off-season cycle with an emphasis on sport performance and injury prevention.
Our team has 11 full-time coaches on staff, with access to additional athletic department resources and experts in sports medicine and performance nutrition. Depending on the physical demands and energy requirements of each particular sport, we utilize a range of training techniques such as traditional strength training, weight lifting (Olympic), and various functional movements. Our staff also works to influence a number of additional athletic performance variables beyond traditional strength development, including:
> Sport-specific Conditioning Attributes > Mobility > Power > Speed
“In two years, the Strength and Conditioning staff has helped me completely transform as an athlete. Everyone on staff is incredibly passionate about the work they do and show up every day ready to help us student-athletes embrace challenges. Their attention to detail and skill are shown in the highly customized and sport-specific programs made for every athlete. With their help, my on-court performance and overall confidence has improved tremendously. Seeing all the hard work the staff puts in to us every day makes it easy for us athletes to show up and put the work in.”
