About the Best Of Awards The United Way Best Of Awards showcase workplaces in central and northeastern Connecticut for their outstanding participation in the United Way Campaign and throughout the year. The awards place special emphasis on United Way Community Investment, supporting lasting, community change for all of us.
We invite you to submit nominations for the United Way Best Of Awards to showcase the work you are doing in support of United Way and our community. This is an opportunity for you to share your efforts in support of the United Way Campaign with other organizations while gathering new ideas for the next campaign. Any workplace that runs a United Way Campaign this year may enter.
Submission Guidelines
Categories Best In Show
Best overall United Way Campaign focused on giving to Community Investment Requirements: Please provide a description of your campaign, outcomes from the campaign, a description of why you are the best of the best, and at least two high-resolution photos taken during your campaign. Please indicate which category your company falls into: • Small Company (fewer than 250 employees) • Medium Company (250-500 employees) • Large Company (more than 500 employees)
Best Use of United Way Messaging and Branding
Best use of United Way messaging and branding throughout the campaign. Please provide specific examples of Community Investment messaging strategies and results.
Best New Campaign
Best strategy to introduce United Way Community Investment to employees for the first time.
Best Campaign Special Event Best leadership and energy throughout a successful United Way Campaign focused on giving to Community Investment.
Best event that brings employees together and raises awareness of United Way Community Investment (e.g. fundraising event, volunteer event, etc.)

Promoting volunteerism with a specific focus on recruiting volunteers to ensure that more children learn to read by third grade and/or more families become financially secure. Please provide details on recruitment methods and results and also indicate which category your nomination falls into: • Year-round mobilization • One-time event

Best show of support from senior management or CEO during a United Way campaign.
Best Volunteer/Campaign Committee Most effective use of a committee to run a campaign or special event.

Best video from the campaign that uses key messaging to explain the importance of giving to United Way Community Investment. Requirements: Max. running time: 5 minutes. Please submit your video both as a DVD and as one of the following: Quicktime file (.MOV) or Windows Media file (.WMV).
Most effective kickoff strategy that engages employees, gets them excited about the campaign and educates them about giving to United Way Community Investment.
Best Partner Agency Campaign
Best partnership and support of the campaign by a United Way partner agency.
Best Rise to the Challenge
Best campaign despite significant setbacks.
Best Year-Round Partnership
Best year-round partnership with United Way in addition to running a campaign.
