To choose a community that’s breaking boundaries and leading the way. To choose a passion that excites you and gives you purpose. Today is your opportunity to explore UWE Bristol for yourself. You’ll get to focus more on your chosen course, ask in-depth

questions about modules and find out what it’s really like to study here. You’ll also have the chance to take a tour of your department facilities, campus and accommodation. Plus, we’ll have experts available from Admissions, Finance and Disability Services so you can ask any questions you might have. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Read on to discover what makes Bristol a top student city. It’s easy to see why so many who come here never want to leave.

Student life in Bristol is great. There are lots of shops, restaurants, cafés, and exciting things to do. You can go shopping at Cabot Circus, visit the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, and try out the many different bars and cafés."

Razaan, BSc(Hons) Civil and Environmental Engineering graduate 2

A city you'll want to call home Famous for its independent thinking and unique style, Bristol is a city that dances to its own beat. Home to over 463,000 people, coming from 187 countries – you can find over 91 different languages spoken here, and 45 religions practised. Big enough to keep you entertained, small enough to be friendly, it's no wonder so many students love living in Bristol. After your Offer Holder Event, why not take a look around Bristol and discover it for yourself.

Why I love living in Bristol Topping polls on a regular basis, Bristol a fantastic place to live and that’s why so many students choose to stay on here after studying. There’s so much going on. Music? Arts? Culture? Sports? Whatever you’re into, you’ll find it here. Read what our students love about living in Bristol and picture yourself living here too.

Food lover’s Bristol Crowned the ‘Best Culinary Destination’* and ‘World Vegan Capital’**, foodies will be wowed by Bristol’s food scene. “I like to take a walk along the river, stop for a burger from 3 Brothers Burgers, and then in true west-country style pop into The Apple for a cider!”

Ilaria, BA(Hons) Criminology and Sociology Sources: *World Food Travel Association: Food Trekking Award 2019 and **Chef’s Pencil in 2020 for third consecutive year.

4

Music lover’s Bristol “Bristol has such a dynamic music scene, with unique venues hidden all around the city. My favourite was going to a floating concert on Thekla, an old boat moored in the harbourside.”

Daisy, BSc(Hons) Forensic Science

Bristol’s green spaces “There are plenty of parks in Bristol. I really like the Clifton Suspension Bridge and its surrounding green areas. Also, Ashton Court and Leigh Woods make for a lovely afternoon walk.”

Eden, BSc(Hons) Architecture

A city of opportunities If it’s exciting opportunities you’re looking for, you’ve chosen the right city. Bristol has lots to shout about - from its strong engineering history and a thriving financial services sector to a buzzing creative sector in one of the UK’s leading creative powerhouses. It’s no wonder Bristol is on track to be one of the UK’s fastest growing cities for economic growth. For you, this means fantastic industry links that give you lots of real-world experience.

I did my placement year at Bristol Zoo Gardens as an invertebrate keeper, which helped me discover my passion for science communications. I want to make people aware how important invertebrates are to our survival, plus how awesome they are. This led me to study my Master’s in Science Communication at UWE Bristol.”

Laura, BSc(Hons) Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Science MSc Science Communication

6

Get involved in your university community At UWE Bristol, we know that your university experience is about more than getting a good degree. It’s the perfect time to try new things and make new friends too. So, get involved. With over 160 clubs and societies and plenty of volunteering opportunities, there’s so much to choose from.

I got involved in the reading buddy volunteering programme at Glenfrome primary school to help Year 6 pupils improve their reading skills. Like me, many come from families who don't speak English at home, so it's hard to get this help at home. It was rewarding to see them develop and knowing they would benefit. It helped me too as this work experience looks great on my CV.”

Inayat, MEng(Hons) Aerospace Engineering with Pilot Studies 7
