MORE THAN

A DEGREE

a 360° experience

For us, university should be a 360° experience. It’s a given that you’ll learn amazing things – that’s what you can expect from a TEF Gold university. But that’s just the beginning. Much more than a degree, 360° means accessible real-world experience and opportunities to connect with top people in your field. It’s a buzzing, inspiring, supportive community to live, learn and grow in; plus life-changing experiences in volunteering and sport to help you discover just how much you’re capable of. Be challenged. Be surprised. Be stretched. Be supported. Become career-ready, experienced, self-aware and confident. Choose more than a degree – choose the 360° experience.

I’m so pleased I studied at UWE Bristol. I’ve no doubt that my degree gave me the skills and confidence to achieve my goals and find a job I absolutely love. It’s got me exactly where I wanted to be.” Anna, Geography graduate

THE

Stats that speak for themselves:

We’re among just a handful of UK universities to achieve TEF Gold-standard university status in Teaching and Learning. This is the highest standard, and means you can be confident that you’re getting the best.

WHY YOU NEED

A 360° EXPERIENCE It’s a fiercely competitive world out there. Knowledge alone isn’t enough. You need presence, proven skills, and real experience to stand out from the crowd. The 360° experience is much more than a great grounding in your subject of choice. It’s your time to discover who you are and where you want to go. Your opportunity to explore your dreams. Your chance to connect with the people and organisations who will open doors in your chosen field. Let’s see what that looks like in practice…

Career Ready Everything we do here focuses on getting you ready for the future you want. Courses designed to meet industry needs? Work experience? It’s all covered. You can be confident that you’ll leave us an adaptable, well-rounded, work-ready graduate. What’s more, you’re in the perfect spot to make career-defining connections. Big names from Airbus to L’Oreal welcome UWE Bristol students on placements, and as graduates.

DID YOU KNOW? UWE Bristol courses are often designed in partnership with industry, so you can be sure that the skills you’re gaining are what real employers are looking for. Find out more on page 14. 6

Discover the true you A big element of your 360° experience is all the amazing things that happen outside the lecture theatre, lab or studio. Learn just how much you’re capable of – and bank the kind of stories that help you shine at interview time – through volunteering, entrepreneurship, travel, student societies, sport and student politics.

Be part of something UWE Bristol is a supportive community. We look after each other, and you’ll feel a real sense of connection here. We have lots of fun, with clubs, sports, societies, events and initiatives like #UWEHallslife. There’s always an open door at student support services, and we have a really caring Wellbeing team plus lots of resources like peer support and resilience workshops to help you feel happy and healthy.

Our focus on real-world experiences and personal development means you’ll stand out in the graduate crowd. Instead of telling employers you’ve got potential, you can show them what you’ve already done.

INTRODUCTION

Why experience matters

Learning at UWE Bristol taught me to be a self-starter, and a strong team player, characteristics which are hugely valued in the workplace. Taking responsibility for my own learning, with supportive lecturers on hand, is the skill that has opened more doors than anything else.” Tabitha, BSc(Hons) Mathematical Science

THE UWE BRISTOL EXPERIENCE

So what’s waiting for you? A city of villages From chic Clifton to arty Easton, buzzing Southville to boho Montpelier, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to places to explore. Not too big, not too small, Bristol’s a great place to live away from home for the first time.

All the fun

Indie vibe Bristol’s famous Gloucester Road is the longest independent high street in the UK, and the indie vibe continues across the city. So if you like your coffee artisan, your wardrobe full of one-offs and your beer micro-brewed, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Though if big names are more your thing, shopping centres at Cabot Circus and Cribbs Causeway have you covered.

With a second-to-none live music scene, one of the world’s top 20 clubs (DJ Magazine 2018), plus endless options for cinema, theatre and comedy, you’ll run out of time, not options.

Free stuff

Fantastic festivals

Food and drink

Bristol is the festival city. Whether you’re into wellness, graffiti or BBQs; balloons or boats; arts, music, culture or community; in Bristol there’ll be a festival for it – and many are free!

Bristol’s food and drink scene is delicious, diverse and really affordable. Whether you want to try authentic Korean food, pick up a Pieminister pie from its birthplace or feast on vegan fish and chips, it’s all here for you.

Bristol’s packed with fun you can have for free, with modern art at Arnolfini, a historic old city to mooch around, great museums, and beautiful green spaces.

9

Space to breathe Green space and water provide a restorative backdrop to the city buzz. Bike, run, walk, read or meditate in one of Bristol’s 328 parks. Whatever your pace, you’ll find a space to make your own. More of a water baby? Take to a rowing boat, hop on a ferry, step back in time on the legendary SS Great Britain, or just watch the world go by and soak up the relaxing harbourside vibe. It’s easy to see why Bristol regularly tops polls for happiness and quality of life.

Well connected With two major railway stations and a coach station, you’re in a great spot for access and adventures: • Bristol is a Cycling City, with lots of cycle lanes, a super-affordable UWE Bristol bike hire scheme and pay-as-you-go Yobikes. • All campuses are well connected by buses to the city centre and wider region. • Bath is 15 minutes by train, while Wales, Somerset and the Cotswolds are under an hour away. • London is 90 minutes by train or a couple of hours by bargain express coach – we even have our own Megabus stop at Frenchay. • Bristol International Airport connects the area to the world, with direct flights to and from Europe, and connecting flights to the USA.

Campus and community UWE Bristol gives you a best-of-both worlds experience when it comes to campus life and city living. You get the freedom, inspiration and excitement of living in a big city, but you’re safe and supported too. You join a proper campus community, and you can be in the city centre in no time, thanks to great public transport links. Everything’s close by, from our 24hr libraries to easy launderettes, through to doctors, support services, shops, cafes and bars. Take a look at our locations and facilities on page 18.

DID YOU KNOW? Bristol used to have its own time zone. Up until 1840, Bristol’s clocks ran 10 minutes behind the ones in London. Maybe that’s why we’re so chilled. 10

THE UWE BRISTOL EXPERIENCE

Bristol’s a great city to be in. It’s very green, friendly and culturally diverse, and much better than London, which is just too busy. Everybody’s welcome and everyone feels at home here.” Muhammad, BEng(Hons) Aerospace Engineering

YOUR FUTURE

HOME Many of our graduates choose to settle in Bristol. So what makes our city such a great place to build a life? It’s all about balance.

Proper prospects From multinationals like Rolls-Royce and Sony to homegrown heroes like Aardman Animation and OVO Energy, ours is a city of opportunities. From banking, the creative industries and engineering to high-tech and healthcare, Bristol’s the place to be.

Friendly and diverse Bristolians are a welcoming bunch, and are rightly proud of their diverse, progressive, multicultural city and its achievements – from opening the first school in England to educate girls, to the UK’s biggest Grand Iftar where 3,000 people shared a meal together in 2018.

Quality of life Bristol regularly tops the UK polls. Happiness, best place to work and live, best city for cycling and walking… the list goes on. See the latest at uwe.ac.uk/bristol

DID YOU KNOW? Over 25% of the world’s natural history films are made in Bristol. 12

A feel-good place to be Bristol is a city full of proactive people driving positive change for the benefit of the whole community. Including hands-on initiatives that share skills, produce and other items, from extra allotment veg to unused furniture. Here at UWE Bristol we’re doing our bit too; e.g. cardboard packaging and food waste from all our food outlets is composted and sent to a farm in Gloucestershire.

Sustainable stories Bristol was awarded the title of European Green Capital for 2015, is the UK’s first Cycling City, and is a Fairtrade City, trading fairly with nearly five million workers in 58 developing countries. It is also home to the Soil Association, Sustrans (the people behind the National Cycle Network), Triodos Bank, and the BBC Natural History Unit. See more of the city we’re proud to call home uwe.ac.uk/bristol

I absolutely love Bristol, it’s a really vibrant and cultural city. There’s always something going on, whether it’s festivals in the summer, food markets by the harbour, day parties or balloon fiestas.” Laura, BA(Hons) Marketing

THE

SOCIAL SIDE You know – and we know – that valuable experience isn’t limited to lecture theatres and work placements. Learning more about who you are, what you love, trying new things out and making new connections is invaluable too.

Friendship and fun Outgoing and love to meet new people? Or prefer to take things steady and meet people who share your interests? Join one of The Students’ Union’s 140 sports clubs and societies and you’ll make new friends in no time, plus try something new or build on a hobby from home. For every interest or experience, there’s a society for that. From the sustainable Green Team and shared faiths, to Film Society and UWE LGBT+, and the Debating Society, you can dip a toe into an array of new friendships and experiences. And that’s before you even think about getting active…

Fit for life Of course our sports clubs offer all the usual suspects: footie, rugby, hockey, netball, athletics… the list goes on. However, there are lots of less-expected fun ways to unwind and get moving too. Our Move programme offers sessions from HiiT to aerial hoop and yoga, circuits and kickboxing to rock climbing. There are sports societies, clubs and classes to suit everyone. So whether you’re a signed-up sports person or a tentative first timer, it’s an amazing time to discover your feel-great exercise.

Living at home? Not everyone wants to – or can – travel away from home for university. And that’s totally fine. We welcome lots of local students who play a really active role in the student social scene on campus, but live at home rather than in university accommodation.

26

THE UWE BRISTOL EXPERIENCE

DID YOU KNOW? The Students’ Union and UWE Bristol runs cafe-bars at Bower Ashton, Frenchay and Glenside campuses. With more than 12 cafes on Frenchay campus alone you’ll have plenty of choice: from flatbread pizzas to Buddha bowls and coffee every which way. Better yet, the ethos is organic, locally sourced and fair-trade where possible too. And the vibe? Easy, welcoming and friendly.

Featured SU Society – Video Gaming The Video Gaming Society prides itself on bringing people together as part of a welcoming and inclusive community. You will find new friends to play games with, have the opportunity to participate in interuniversity competitions, attend trips and enjoy social events throughout the year. There are opportunities to get involved in society planning, arranging events and managing social media accounts. All skills that will give you valuable experience for the world of work.

I’m a big advocate for people joining societies. I didn’t join in my first year and it’s my biggest regret. I joined Hub Voice, the student magazine in my second year. I was the Assistant Editor and I absolutely loved every minute of it. I’m joining the History Society next year as their social media guru.” Beth, BA(Hons) Marketing

THE UWE BRISTOL EXPERIENCE

One of our favourite events is our collaboration with the amazing student led Green Team. It’s called Bring Your Own Bowl (BYOB), where we combine three of our favourite things: free food, friends and sustainability. We take surplus supermarket food that would otherwise be thrown away and turn it into a free and healthy meal, and use this as a vehicle to raise awareness. We’re always looking for volunteers to help out too.” Vicki Harris, Sustainability Engagement Coordinator

These elected reps are students just like you, who have chosen to stand up and be counted on behalf of the UWE Bristol community. They give you a voice, organise all the fun stuff, and are always there if you need someone to talk to. There is also a HallsLife community for those living on campus and a range of bars and shops that hold regular events for you to get involved in.

I’m the first international female president of The Students’ Union and was also lucky enough to receive the Vice-Chancellor’s scholarship. I feel truly grateful for being given so many invaluable opportunities to flourish, find out what I’m capable of and develop myself to become a business woman. The wide range of opportunities and support I’ve been given by the University and The Students’ Union have opened so many doors for me. I would like to encourage all of you, no matter what your background, the colour of your skin or what you’ve been through in life to believe in yourself. You can be who you want to be. And we, The Students’ Union, are here to support and empower you.” Giang, Students’ Union President

We are of course happy to consider applications submitted after the January deadline for courses which have vacancies. Courses without vacancies will be highlighted on our website. Key dates throughout the process, including UCAS deadlines, can be found at uwe.ac.uk/timeline.

The Application Process

Applications for part-time study Applications for all part-time undergraduate courses are made directly to us or our local study partners. For further information please visit our course pages at uwe.ac.uk/courses. International student applications As well as applying through UCAS, international students can apply through one of our overseas representatives. See uwe.ac.uk/ international for contact details of our representatives in your home country. This service is free. Deferred entry In most cases we’re happy to accept applications from students wanting to take a gap year. But there are some courses which don’t accept applications for deferred entry. This is made clear online on the relevant course pages uwe.ac.uk/courses. If you decide after you’ve applied you want to defer, you’ll need to contact our Admissions Team for advice. Courses subject to approval If the degree you’re interested in is marked ‘†Subject to final UWE Bristol approval’, applications should still be made in the normal way. The website information will be kept up-to-date regarding the approval status of a programme uwe.ac.uk/courses. Applicants holding an offer on such a programme will be notified of changes through their UWE Welcome website.

Advanced entry If you’ve already obtained a qualification in, or can demonstrate you have studied relevant subjects at a level equivalent to Higher Education, you may be considered for exemption from part of the course. Please upload full details of your qualification via your UWE Welcome website, once you’ve applied, for our consideration. Welcoming diversity Equality of opportunity is one of our core values at UWE Bristol. We welcome applicants from a wide range of academic and social backgrounds. We consider each application on the basis of an applicant’s suitability for the course applied for, at the same time acknowledging the statutory requirements of the University and relevant professional organisations. We are committed to enabling equality of opportunity in access to study courses, assessment and in developing and delivering the curriculum. We aim to provide a working and learning environment free from any kind of discrimination or harassment. We encourage staff and students at all levels in the organisation to commit to these values. Disabled students We welcome applications from disabled students, whether it’s physical health, mental health or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Approximately 15% of our current students have declared a disability.

HOW TO APPLY

We’ve pulled together some really useful information for you regarding the application process. But if you still have queries about applying to UWE Bristol, we’re always happy to answer them. Simply email admissions@uwe.ac.uk or call us on +44 (0)117 32 83333.

Please disclose any relevant conditions or difficulties on your application form, so we can start to explore your needs with you. If you do disclose, we’ll ask you to provide more information about any access and support needs you might have. Following this, we’ll offer you advice and in some cases, invite you to speak or meet with us in advance of your course starting. We’ll help you with reasonable adjustments, support and equipment, including funding. And we’ll be happy to help with any questions you have at any point in the process. You can tell us you are disabled at any time and if you do, we’ll only share this information with staff involved with organising your support and reasonable adjustments. It’s best to disclose at application stage if possible. The information you disclose will not have an impact on whether you are made an offer to study with us. Criminal convictions If you are applying for a course which is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, you must declare it on your application form. We may ask you to provide further details of the nature of the conviction. We will not be able to continue considering your application until this information has been provided. Further information on the admission of applicants with criminal convictions is available from our Admissions Team.

2. Considering your application As soon as we receive your application we’ll email you login details for your personal UWE Welcome website. This gives you access to track your application. We’ll get in touch with you via this website throughout the application process, automatically updating it as soon as anything changes. If you’ve applied for more than one of our courses, your site will show details and communications about them all. We’ll encourage you to check this site regularly and to set admissions@uwe.ac.uk as a ‘trusted’ email source to ensure useful updates are not missed. We’ll carefully consider your application and aim to notify you of an update within 14 days. Typical communications are:

• For some courses you may be sent an invitation to attend an interview/ selection event. This will be through your UWE Welcome website and contains all the information you’ll need to prepare for the day. Please note information concerning your interview will only be viewable on your UWE Welcome website. UCAS will not be updated to reflect the fact you are invited to interview. • S ome courses require you to submit a portfolio of work. This will be requested by means of an e-portfolio facility within your UWE Welcome website. To enable us to consider your application in a timely manner, you should ensure your UCAS application is as detailed as possible.

• I f we’re able to make you an offer you’ll be sent lots of useful information regarding your course and relevant University policies. • W e may require further information from you in order to make a decision on your application. This will be requested by email and through your UWE Welcome website.

3. What happens next? If your course offers an Offer Holder Day you’ll receive a personal invitation through your UWE Welcome website shortly after you’ve received your offer. Building on the Open Day experience, these events give you the chance to explore your chosen course in much more depth. In many cases we try to run more than one Offer Holder Day per course. If you decide to firmly accept our offer, you’ll be sent details to apply for our accommodation. Those applicants who choose UWE Bristol as their UCAS insurance choice will not be eligible to apply for accommodation at this time. Full details of the accommodation process and available options can be found on our website uwe.ac.uk/accommodation. Your course may require occupational health clearance and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to be provided. Details of how to complete these will be sent to you, if applicable, normally from early May onwards.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS UCAS tariff points We make our offers using UCAS tariff points in conjunction with our minimum entry requirements. We accept points from all qualifications in the UCAS tariff. This means you can include points from a variety of qualifications, including (but not limited to): A and AS Levels (including General Studies and Critical Thinking); BTEC; Music and Drama; Welsh Baccalaureate; International Baccalaureate. Please see the UCAS website ucas.com/ucas/tariff-calculator to calculate your UCAS Tariff points.

What are our minimum entry requirements? For an honours degree course without an integrated foundation year, you normally need two A Levels, or the equivalent, such as a BTEC Diploma or Extended Diploma, International Baccalaureate, or Access to Higher Education Diploma. For an honours degree course with an integrated foundation year, you would normally need one A level or equivalent. Please see our website for full details of all the qualifications which meet our entry requirements uwe.ac.uk/ugapply Students who achieve the UCAS tariff points required (and have passed an English Language qualification) have almost always gained qualifications which meet our minimum entry requirements. However, if you have taken a number of other qualifications, (such as AS Levels or Music and Drama qualifications), you should contact us for advice.

146

Entry Requirements

Required subjects For some courses, we specify subjects and grades you must achieve. This is usually because you need to have reached a certain standard in a subject in order to succeed on the degree course. Subjects may be required at GCSE, or at A Level, Extended Diploma, IB, or equivalent. Some courses may offer a foundation year as an alternative entry point. It is really important you check you will have the required subjects for your course and contact us (or enquire at an Open Day) if you are unsure.

English Language and Maths We require an English Language qualification for all courses. We accept GCSE English Language grade C/grade 4, or IELTS 6.0 (International English Language Test) with no less than 5.5 in any one element in most cases. Some courses such as Health and Social Care courses may require a higher IELTS. See course information for further details. uwe.ac.uk/courses GCSE Maths and/or Science grade C/grade 4 is required for many of our courses. Please note: the following qualifications are not accepted by UWE Bristol as alternatives to GCSE Maths and English Language at grade C or above: Level 2 Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number; Level 2 Certificates in Adult Numeracy and Literacy; and Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English. Please contact us if you are unsure.

Access courses An Access to Higher Education Diploma is often the best route for adults without the academic qualifications normally required, but whose life and work experience has given them a strong motivation to go to university. We’ll consider applications for all our courses from those who are taking or have passed a QAA-recognised Access to Higher Education Diploma. For courses which have ‘required subjects’ you normally have to include these subjects within your Access course. These specific requirements, including any grade requirements, are detailed on our course pages uwe.ac.uk/courses

Integrated foundation year options We offer a number of courses which include a foundation level entry year for those who need an additional year to gain the required subject knowledge before starting their chosen degree. The best way to explore these is to come to an Open Day, or you can contact us for advice.

HOW TO APPLY

You’ll find entry requirements for each course on our website. We’ve made them as straightforward as possible – and we explain below the different ways you can gain a place on the course of your choice.

Heading Higher Passport (HHP) Plus HHP Plus is a widening participation scheme bringing together enrichment programmes taught in local schools and colleges in partnership with UWE Bristol. We provide a range of experiences and activities, which have the potential to raise aspirations and increase awareness of the opportunities available in Higher Education. The aim is to support learners in decisions about their future. To find out more uwe.ac.uk/schoolsandcolleges

Interviews, auditions and portfolio reviews For some courses, we may ask you to attend a selection event such as an interview, audition or portfolio review as part of the admissions process. The individual course listings will tell you if this is a requirement in your chosen course. Typically: • C reative industries – applicants bring examples of their creative work (their ‘portfolio’) which they discuss with course tutors. • D rama and acting – applicants come for an audition and discussion with course tutors. • I nitial teacher training and health and social care – applicants attend a selection event which may involve undertaking a test and having an interview with course tutors.

I nitial Teacher Education (ITE) courses I n addition to meeting the entry requirements stated for the course you must: • S atisfy the Department for Education about your suitability for the teaching profession and your ability to undertake a training course. For further information, please see the webpage for the course you’re interested in. • P rovide a satisfactory Declaration of Health and a further declaration on criminal convictions (Disclosure and Barring Service clearance) before taking up the place. • S how competence in the use of English Language and Maths – you must pass the Professional Skills Test in literacy and numeracy before starting the course. Further information: https:// getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/ eligibility-for-teacher-training

Health and social care courses

• P rovide a satisfactory Declaration of Health and a further declaration on criminal convictions (Disclosure and Barring Service clearance) before taking up the place. • S ome courses ask you to show competency in the use of English Language and Maths.

International qualifications We accept a wide range of international qualifications from all over the world. You will find full details on our website uwe.ac.uk/mycountry

Experience – but not the usual entry requirements We can sometimes accept applicants onto a course who do not have the usual entry requirements, but who have substantial experience (usually a period of years) in a field closely related to the course. We need to be sure you are adequately prepared for the academic methods of teaching and assessment you will encounter on your course. Sometimes we will recommend you do an Access course or offer you a degree with an integrated foundation year instead.

In addition to meeting the academic entry requirements stated for the course you must: • D emonstrate your suitability and ability to study the course. For further information, please see the webpage for the course you’re interested in.

FEES AND FUNDING 1. Tuition fee information These pages offer an overview of fees, other costs and financial help available at the time of going to print. Please check our website for the latest information uwe.ac.uk/money

How much are the tuition fees?

Part-time study Tuition fees for part-time study are up to the pro-rata amount of the full-time equivalent. Please note that international students are not normally able to study part-time due to the immigration restrictions of the Tier 4 student visa. Please see our website for updated information on all fees uwe.ac.uk/money

Full-time study At the time of going to print with this prospectus, the tuition fees for 2020/21 have not been set. Our undergraduate study fees in 2019/20 are £9,250 a year for UK and EU students and between £11,750 and £12,500 for international students. Fee information for UK and EU students studying a Foundation Degree at one of our local study partners can be found on our course pages uwe.ac.uk/courses

Indicative additional costs Any additional costs given per course are what you could reasonably expect to incur during your studies and are for items not covered by the standard tuition fee. These could be for materials, text books, travel, clothing, software or printing.

Living costs If you’re living away from home while you study, you’ll need to cover costs such as accommodation, travel, bills and food. We’ve estimated between about £9,580 and £12,100 per year for a single student. This does not include tuition fees, mobile phone bills or unexpected bills. A typical budget for 40 weeks might be:

Fees and Funding

2. What financial help is available? What support is there for me? There are many sources of funding, but for UK students most fall mainly into two categories: help from UWE Bristol and help from the UK Government. Some are repayable, some are not. It is important to check your entitlement before you start your studies.

Financial help from UWE Bristol We aim to help make sure everyone with potential has the opportunity to study with us, regardless of social or financial background. We provide over £3.5 million to students each year through bursaries and hardship funds. Bursaries (non-repayable) We’ve a generous Bursary Scheme, which puts money in your pocket when you need it most – during your studies. The Bursary Scheme for 2019/20 entrants has not yet been finalised. Other non-repayable bursaries (such as business and sports scholarships) are available. For example, if you’re an elite sports person, you could qualify for a full bursary and an additional support package. University scholarships and grants (non-repayable) There are some bursaries and scholarships available from individual departments. Please contact us or have a look at our website for further information. uwe.ac.uk/ students/feesandfunding/ fundingandscholarships

Student Support Fund (non-repayable) We’ve a large fund for UK students who find themselves in financial difficulty while studying. Awards are generally between £100 and £1,000. In exceptional cases students may receive significantly more. We give priority to those who are unable to work part time due to a disability or caring responsibilities. International scholarships (non-repayable) Each year we offer a number of international and country-specific scholarships for international students. Most are partial tuition fee waivers, where payment is made against your tuition fee and reduces the amount you are required to pay. Short-term loans (repayable) We can provide small, interest-free loans to students in temporary financial difficulties (if, for instance, payment of your funding is delayed at the start of the year). For further details on funding, please visit uwe.ac.uk/money

Financial education Learning how to manage your money is a crucial part of university life. We offer a wide range of support to help you feel confident managing your finances and develop essential money skills for the future.

Financial help from the UK government – tuition fees (UK and EU students only) Tuition fee loan (repayable) You can apply for a fee loan to cover your annual tuition fees. Previous study at higher education level can remove entitlement to the fee loan. Please note that at the time of printing this prospectus, this funding has not been confirmed for EU students. If you have questions or need further information about funding options for these courses, please contact us at admissions@uwe.ac.uk

Financial help from the UK government – living costs (UK students only) Student Finance Living Cost loan (repayable) This is available to full-time Englishresident students from Student Finance England (SFE). If you are from Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales, you can apply for funding from Student Awards Agency for Scotland, Student Finance Northern Ireland and Student Finance Wales. The loan is paid into your bank account at the start of each term. See below for terms and conditions of the fee and living cost loans. Help for students with children (non-repayable) There’s additional support for UK students with dependants, including help with childcare. This additional support is income assessed. Social work bursaries If you are registered on a social work course, English-resident students may be eligible for a bursary in the second and third years of study, alongside the standard student funding.

State benefits (non-repayable) UK students studying part time, or full time students who are disabled or who have dependants, may be eligible to receive benefits while studying.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

Financing your studies can be a bit of a juggling act. We can help and advise you, whether you’re a UK student, EU, international, full-time, part-time, or any combination.

Trusts and charities (non-repayable) There are a large number of organisations who may provide additional financial support to students, but demand for these funds can be very high. You can find out more at gov.uk

3. T erms and conditions of the fee and living costs The UK government lends you the money for your fees and, for UK students only, your living costs. Once you graduate, you start to pay it back when you’re earning at least £25,725 per year (subject to change). At this point, 9% of your earnings above £25,725 per year will be deducted from your salary by your employer. If you never earn above the threshold (£25,725), you will never repay the Annual salary

THE SMALL PRINT The information given in this printed prospectus, including that relating to the availability of courses, is current at the time of going to press (January 2019) and is subject to alterations. For up-to-date information, please check our website.

Data protection Personal data about students, including records of academic achievements, are stored by the University (the data controller) in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.

Disclaimer We’ve made every effort to make this prospectus as accurate as possible. However, it is printed over a year before the courses start. We continually enhance our offer by responding to feedback from our students and other stakeholders, which may mean we make changes to courses after the prospectus is published. You’ll find the most up-to-date information about our courses on our website. Very occasionally we have to withdraw or combine courses due to limited demand, as this would have a negative impact on the student experience. When this is the case, we’ll advise you as soon as possible before the start of the course and aim to provide a suitable alternative. Wherever possible, we use images of our campus and students. Occasionally we use stock images for illustrative purposes.
